They worked for amazing little hearts…Near East University Department of Special Needs Education held an event for good cause

A part of their “Community Service” module, the students of Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education Department of Special Needs Education, Teaching Mentally Disadvantaged held an event for the welfare of Cyprus Turkish Society for the Protection of Children and resultantly, donated 9 Thousand Turkish Liras to the Society.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the event, which was held at the helm Specialist Zeynep Genç, was realised with the contributions of the students and academic members and was completed over 10 days. It included basketball and football tournaments and a charity sale. It was pointed out that this community service event created an opportunity for students to mingle and cooperate on a good cause and touch amazing little hearts. Upon completion of the tournaments, winning teams were presented medals, a cup and various other gifts.

It was revealed that the project had begun as a project of a module later transformed into a network of donation project to which other various institutions contributed, alongside the NEU academicians and students, and all together raised 9 Thousand Turkish Liras. Some of the collected fund was used to but the children various needs such as clothes, stationary and food and the remaining amount of money was donated to the Cyprus Turkish Society for the Protection of Children.

Making a statement regarding the matter, Specialist Zeynep Genç, expressed gratitude to all academicians and students of Near East University and the institutions for their contributions in realising such a deserving cause.
