Polish prospective veterinarians who came to Near East University as part of the internship and exchange program continue to discover the cultural richness of the TRNC in addition to their academic studies.
The International Veterinary Students Association Cyprus (IVSA Cyprus), which operates under the Dean of Students of Near East University, continues to connect students receiving veterinary education to the world. Prospective veterinarians from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Poland continue their internships at Near East University as part of the IVSA Cyprus and IVSA Olsztyn student exchange programs.
Students have the opportunity to get to know the TRNC closely while continuing their academic studies. Polish students, who participate in many different events on and off campus, also discover the historical and cultural richness of the TRNC. As part of the program, students visited the Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum, the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art and the Cyprus Car Museum on the Near East University campus, and the Walled City Museum in Kyrenia Gate, and were amazed by the museums on the campus. Students, who visited the Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum as their first stop of the day, examined with great interest 11 thousand different plant samples from 1,500-1,600 plant species in Cyprus, mushroom varieties, insect species, various reptile species, marine life and materials related to the geology of Cyprus.
Following this, Polish prospective veterinarians went to the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art and examined over 100 thousand artworks by over 3 thousand artists from 14 Turkish communities. Polish visitors who also examined the classic and modern cars exhibited at the Cyprus Car Museum were particularly amazed by the preservation process of historical classic models.
As part of the cultural tour, the students also visited the Walled City of Nicosia, explored the streets of historical Nicosia, and visited many places, including the Great Inn and Gamblers Inn.
Polish students, who are studying at the Near East University as part of the IVSA Cyprus and IVSA Olsztyn student exchange programs, will also participate in many practice and clinical internship programs, especially at the Near East University Animal Hospital, throughout the week.
