The world of veterinary medicine will meet in the TRNC!

The “8th International Farm Animals Fertility and Udder Health Congress” organized by the Near East University will bring together more than 600 veterinarians from many countries of the world in the TRNC.

The “8th International Farm Animals Fertility and Udder Health Congress” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will be held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus between April 24-27, 2025. The congress, which will be held within the scope of the “Spring Days in Veterinary Medicine” held for the 11th time this year, will once again host international scientific discussions on the health and productivity of farm animals.

Leading academicians and veterinarians from countries such as the United States, Austria, Belgium and Lithuania will make presentations at the congress, where experts in their fields will participate. The congress, which had over 600 participants and attracted great attention last year, is expected to attract the same interest this year, too.

The congress organized by the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Diseases of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will cover topics such as herd health monitoring protocols, current developments in fixed-time artificial insemination, production efficiency evaluation in dairy herds, and innovative approaches to mastitis management in detail.

The three-day congress will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Selim Aslan, Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Diseases of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Near East University, and Prof. Dr. Osman Ergene, Faculty Member of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

At the congress, Prof. Dr. Carlos Risco from Oklahoma State University, USA, who will be an invited speaker from the United States, will provide information on “Herd health monitoring protocols during the transition period” and “Time and methods of intervention for dystocia in dairy cows”. Prof. Dr. Klibs N. Galvao will speak on “Current developments in fixed-time artificial insemination, early and late pregnancy diagnosis” and “How to benefit from low-yielding herds.” Prof. Dr. Karen Wagener from the Vienna University of Veterinary Medicine will make a presentation on “Towards a healthier and more productive dairy herd: Strategies for herd health management” and “Metrics Matter: Assessing the (re)production efficiency of a dairy herd.” Prof. Dr. Ramunas Antanaitis from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences will make a presentation on “Innovative approaches to mastitis management: Integrating research and practice” and “How to prevent mastitis with innovative technologies in post-calving diseases?”. Prof. Dr. Geert Opsomer from the University of Ghent in Belgium will make a presentation on “Factors affecting ovarian activity in high-yielding dairy cows, methods for achieving early return” and “Ovarian cysts in high-yielding dairy cows: Is there any news for field physicians?”, and will share current developments for field physicians on the subject.
