The works of the famous Russian composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff will meet music lovers at the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education in honor of his 150th birthday

In honor of the 150th birthday of the famous Russian composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff, the concert will be held on Tuesday, November 28, at 13.00 at the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education, and will be open to the public free of charge.

The melodies of Sergei Rachmaninoff, who contributed important works to the classical music repertoire and was one of the most influential composers, pianists and orchestrators of the 20th century, will meet music lovers at the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education in honor of his 150th birthday.

Rachmaninov and his works, an important figure in the transition from the romantic period of classical music to the modern period, continue to be admired around the world. Rachmaninoff, known as a piano virtuoso in his time, often performed his own compositions.

The works of Rachmaninoff, who stands out especially with his piano concertos, will meet art lovers again at the concert held at the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education, free of charge and open to public participation. At the concert, which will start at 13.00 on Tuesday, November 28, Near East University Atatürk Education Faculty, Music Teaching Department faculty members İrada Melikova, Dr. Emine Arıkhan and Gözdem İlkay and their students Derin Zeki and Deniz Amcazade on the piano, Dr. İlyas Abdullin on violin, Dr. Neriman Soykunt on viola and İmge Dinçer on vocals will perform the works of Rachmaninoff.

Emphasizing that Sergei Rachmaninoff has a very important place in the classical music corpus, Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Yağmur Çerkez said, “With the performance of our students and esteemed teachers of our Music Teaching Department, we are introducing Rachmaninoff’s works to our students and the public on his 150th birthday.”
