At the end of the four-day program attended by world-renowned artists and academics at the 2nd International Cinema Symposium organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication and the Near East University Communication Research Center (ILAMER-CRC) between 8-11 March, the names who got the top rankings in the photography and short film selections. announced.

The 2nd International Cinema Symposium, organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication and the Near East University Communication Research Center (İLAMER), in cooperation with 20 universities from different countries of the world, was completed. The names and works that won the prize in the photography and short film selection organized within the scope of the 2nd International Cinema Symposium, which is also supported by the Turkish World Documentary Film Festival and the Turkic World Culture, Arts and Cinema Foundation, were brought together with art lovers at the online gala held on the last day of the symposium.

15 of 84 short films were selected
Within the scope of the symposium, 84 works were included in the Short Film Selection, which was organized with the theme of “new”. As a result of the evaluation made by the jury consisting of subject specialists under the chairmanship of Turkish Cypriot director Derviş Zaim; Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Assist. Prof. Dr. Izlem Kanlı, Assist. Prof. Dr. Çağdaş Öğüç, Dr. Zehra Cerrahoglu, Dr. Serkan Fundalar, Dr. Göral Erinç Yılmaz, instructors Murat Cem Acralp, Zeyde Y. Örek, Mert Yusuf Özlük, Evren Maner and producers Süleyman Bedri Kalyoncuoğlu, Canol Balkaya and director Hayri Çölaşan took place in the jury and 15 of 84 works were deemed worthy of being included in the selection. “Frame” by Berk and Mert Sata won the first place, Şiyar Baran Sakık’s “Across” was awarded the second place, and Ömer Dişbudak’s “Burhan” was awarded the third place. Deniz Telek’s “Anush” and İlcan Edgar Özuluca’s short films “Cevher-Ore” received the Jury Appreciation Award. Muaz Ramazan Güneş’s work “Yasemin-Jasmnie” won the Jury’s Special Award.

32 works by 23 artists were included in the photography selection.
On the other hand, 73 artists applied with 124 photographs for the “Photo Selection” organized within the scope of the 2nd International Cinema Symposium. Under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ali Bayraktaroğlu, as a result of the evaluation of the jury consisting of Prof. Dr. Osman Urper, Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beyhan Özdemir, faculty members Dr. Asli Erciyes Tosun and Dr. Birsel Matara, photographer and academician Gazi Yüksel, Sami Türkay, Mert Yusuf Özlük and Hüseyin Aşkaroğlu, 32 works by 23 artists were accepted into the 2nd International Cinema Symposium Photography Selection. The works accepted for the selection will meet with art lovers as a digital catalog in the coming days.
