Being the third of the 6 public primary schools that the Near East Enterprises will bring to the children of the country, with a capacity of 500 students each, the foundation of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School was laid with a magnificent ceremony held in Famagusta with the participation of Prime Minister Ersan Saner.

With the decision of the Günsel Family Board, the foundation of the third of the 6 schools to be built by the Near East Enterprises in 6 districts of the TRNC and delivered to the Ministry of National Education and Culture, was laid with a magnificent ceremony.

To be built on 18 acres of land, Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School will have a the capacity of 500 students. The fully-equipped school, of which the entire investment will be made by the Near East Enterprises, will be delivered to the TRNC Ministry of National Education and Culture Primary Education Department, after its completion.

The foundation of the first public primary school built by the Near East Enterprises was laid on March 19 in Gönyeli Yenikent. In Gonyeli, Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School will be delivered to the Ministry of National Education and Culture Department of Primary Education by mid-August to start education in September 2021. Founded in Iskele on April 23, the construction of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School continues at full speed. The Dr. Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School, the foundation of which was laid in Famagusta, is also planned to be completed within a short time and made ready for education. After Nicosia, Iskele and Famagusta, investments in other public primary schools with a capacity of 500 students to be built in Kyrenia, Güzelyurt and Lefke regions will begin with the determination of their lands.

The groundbreaking ceremony of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School was attended by Prime Minister Ersan Saner, Representative of the Security Forces Command, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Finance Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Public Works and Transport Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay, deputies , undersecretaries, district governors, mayors, ministerial directors and many guests.

The groundbreaking ceremony of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School in Famagusta started with the speech of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel. After the speeches of the Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu and the Prime Minister Ersan Saner, The foundation of Suat Günsel Famagusta State Primary School was laid.


Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “While we are raising our children as well-equipped individuals to challenge the world, on the other hand; We continue to open new areas that will enable them to exist in their own lands without breaking with their roots, to establish a future and to carry our country further”
Reminding that they decided to build 6 state primary schools in 6 districts of the TRNC 6 months ago at the Günsel Family Board and hand them over to the Directorate of Primary Education Department of the Ministry of National Education and Culture, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said that they are proud to lay foundations of the third of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools in Famagusta, following the ones in Nicosia and Iskele regions. He said that Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School, of which the foundation was laid on March 19 in Gonyeli, Nicosia, will be delivered fully equipped to the Ministry of National Education and Culture in mid-August. Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “We will come together again to lay the foundations of the remaining three state primary schools, as soon as the locations of the schools that our Enterprises will build in Kyrenia, Güzelyurt and Lefke regions are determined, and deliver them to the Ministry of National Education and Culture in the coming days.”

“During this period, we have continued to expand our schools within the body of Near East Enterprises throughout the country,” saying Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, continued his speech as follows; “Our Yeniboğaziçi Campus, which started education last September, has entered the service of the children of the region right next to Famagusta. One of the most equipped and modern campuses in the world, which we opened 1 month ago, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia College will start education in September.”

“On the one hand, while raising our children as well-equipped and qualified individuals to compete with the world, we are continuing to open new areas that will provide our children, who grow up in our educational institutions that we have laid the foundations of and opened, with opportunities in order to be able to exist in their own countries, in their own lands without breaking from their roots, to establish a future and to carry our country further” saying Prof. Dr. Günsel, also gave information about the ongoing investments of the Near East Enterprises.

Saying “We put R&D and innovation at the center of our future strategy,” Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel continued as follows; “We carry out important studies in the fields of robot and information technologies and artificial intelligence. Because these areas continue to become the key to success and the future in many sectors, from automotive to health, from industry to informatics, with increasing momentum. Countries that do not invest in these technologies and do not raise their children and young people with this equipment are getting harder and harder times to find a place for themselves economically, culturally and therefore politically in the world. Therefore, we believe that existing, investing and growing in these areas will strengthen our country not only economically but also politically.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, regarding the investment process of GÜNSEL, the domestic and national car of the TRNC, of which production facilities continue to in the second phase, said, “Our GÜNSEL and the ecosystem it has created around it will lead our country to grow in new areas with high added value and technology. While our GÜNSEL will make our country one of the few countries producing its own automobile, on the other hand, from new automotive technologies to energy, it will shape the future of our formation, our country and our people with the initiatives it will trigger in many areas from fiber composite production to software. We will complete the second phase of investment of our GÜNSEL Production Facility next month. Our plastic injection factory, which will be a first in our country, will be operational with the completion of the 2nd phase construction of Günsel production facilities and the placement of our machinery park awaiting installation.”

Stating that they will continue to produce for the people of the country from education to culture and art, from automotive to technology and informatics, and make investments to make solid roots that no storm can shake with the projects they have implemented in many fields from health to tourism and industry, Prof. Dr. Günsel said, “We see each project that we have laid the foundation, inaugurated and planned as a vein that carries lifeline to our roots. To strengthen the science, education, art and the technology of our country; We continue to work non-stop to make it a respected and influential country in this geographic region as well as in the world.”

In his speech, he said, “To be whole, to stay whole, to walk into the future together and thus to stand strong is the basis on which the philosophy of the existence of the Near East Enterprises rises. We have always held the integrity of the family, the integrity of the country, the integrity of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Turkey, always at the top and considered it indispensable. In the light of this principle, we worked hard to be united as “we” as a whole in these lands, and we will never get tired of continuing to work.” Prof. Dr. Günsel wished that Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School be beneficial to Famagusta and the people of the region, and our country.


Olgun Amcaoğlu: “The 10-decare land on which Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School will be built is also ready”
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School Famagusta, Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu said, “We have taken many decisions to take important steps to increase the quality of education as well as the quantity, that is, the number of schools. While making these decisions, the decision of the Near East Enterprises and the Günsel Family Board to build 6 public primary schools in 6 districts shed light on us.”

Pointing out that only 1 public school was built in the country in the last 10 years, Minister Amcaoğlu said, “However, the number of public schools of which foundations were laid or agreements were made in just 6 months, has reached 15. Günsel Family will establish 6 of these schools.” Stating that the 10-decare land on which Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School will be built in Kyrenia is ready, Olgun Amcaoğlu said that the land delivery will be made very soon.

Thanking the Günsel Family for their contribution to the education of the country, Amcaoğlu said, “I wish the foundation laid will be beneficial for the children of Famagusta, their families, our educators and our country”


Prime Minister Ersan Saner: “Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools will provide a modern education home with their facilities and equipment to a total of 3 thousand students.”
Prime Minister Ersan Saner, who delivered a speech at the ceremony, started his speech by saying “I am very happy and proud as a native of Famagusta while laying this foundation”, reminding that in 1974 there were major clashes in this region. Prime Minister Saner said; “The Sakarya Primary School, which became the symbol of the history of the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people in 1974, was destroyed and there was no school left in this region. The foundation laid today has a different meaning because the children who have been growing up there with the burning torches will continue to grow up with the torches that you will light here today.”

Stating that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has made serious breakthroughs with its own limited opportunities, Prime Minister Saner said, “We have come a long way since the day we had founded our Republic. I also know that we will reach a better future.” Prime Minister Ersan Saner said that especially during COVID-19, while the health system and economies of the whole world have hit bottom, the performance in the field of health and the developments they have made in the economy in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will carry the country to a better point.

Reminding that they laid the foundation of Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School today in Famagusta, after Nicosia and Iskele, Prime Minister Saner also expressed his satisfaction that the foundation of the fourth school will be laid in Kyrenia soon. Prime Minister Saner said, “Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary Schools will provide a modern education home with their facilities and equipment to a total of 3 thousand students.
