The second book bringing together the projects and device designs of 4th-year students of Near East University Biomedical Engineering will be published by Elsevier, one of the prestigious publishing houses based in the Netherlands

The second book, The Practical Design and Applications of Medical Devices, which brings together the designs and prototypes of the devices produced by Near East University Biomedical Engineering 4th year students under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Özşahin, will be published by Elsevier, one of the most respected publishing houses in the world.

The first study that brought together the projects of biomedical students was also published by Elsevier in 2021 with the title of “Modern Practical Healthcare Issues in Biomedical Instrumentation – Applications of Biomedical Instrumentation to Health Problems”.

Practical Design and Applications of Medical Devices book, which will consist of 21 chapters, focuses on many topics such as approaches to provide neurological communication in the prosthetic arm, internet of things (IoT) based baby/infant monitor device, electro physiotherapy device design, voice controllable prosthetic hand, 3D bioprinting of prosthetic leg, computer web facial recognition system to be used in disease diagnosis via camera, detection of retinal blood clots in the eye using laser doppler technology, sleep apnea detection device, design principles for the Diagnostic Radiology Department, design of a non-invasive blood pressure measuring device, electromechanical hand design working with EMG signal, signal processing method, and voice recognition system.

Emphasizing that practice is one of the most important parts of the educational tradition of Near East University, Near East University Faculty of Engineering Biomedical Engineering Lecturer and Director of the Center for Operations in Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilber Uzun Özşahin said, “The projects carried out by our fourth-year Biomedical Engineering students in R&D, design and product conversion processes are one of the most important examples of this approach.”
