Faculty of Health Sciences will be raising health professionals by utilizing its laboratories equipped with advanced technology...

Faculty of Health Sciences became a part of Near East University in 2007 and it will be continuing to provide education and training to raise health professionals by utilizing its new laboratories fully equipped with latest technology.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the construction of the new building of the Faculty of Health Sciences, of which foundations was laid in 2015, was about to be completed. Furthermore, it was pointed out that the building will commence its service on 15th November, 2017. Additionally, it was stated that this modern building will enable health sciences students to be raised at international standards due to opportunities provided by its laboratories, equipped with advanced technology, different sized lecture rooms and the amphitheatres which all meet the necessary needs of the students.

Laboratories of equipment of highest standards…
There are a total of 18 laboratories at the new NEU Faculty of Health Sciences building, dome of which are Far Infrared Receiver (FIR) Laboratory, Nursing Laboratory, Nutrition and Dietetics Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Speech Laboratory, Ergotherapy Laboratory, and Audiology Laboratory.

Academic Members’ Rooms and Lecture Halls...
It is pointed out that the new building holds a total of 4 amphitheatres of different sizes and largest with capacity of 1000 people and 30 lecture halls of different sizes of capacity of 2000 people. Furthermore, the building holds rooms for academic members and meeting rooms; in addition to 2 cafeterias.


A building with contemporary equipment…
Environmental factors were considered during the design process of the building and central fire system; air conditioning system and automation system; and a special insulation system at the roof of the building. Also, the building also has a parking area for 400 cars.

Prof. Dr. Sevinç Yücecan: “With our 24 different educational programs, we aim to raise health professionals who can make significant contribution to science...”
Founding Rector of Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Sevinç Yücecan stated that just as previously done, the new fully equipped building of Faculty of Health Sciences would contribute to raising health professionals who are creative, who are critical, and who are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the needs of the 21st century.

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Yücecan emphasised that the education and training provided at the new faculty building would be home to opportunities that can compete with the opportunities provided at well-renown institutions due to the contemporary equipment available; all of which in return will enable to raise the students of the faculty at their best potentials, making significant contribution to science.

Prof. Dr. Yücecan stated that the departments of the Faculty of Health Sciences are as follows: Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (Turkish as language of instruction);Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (English as the language of instruction); Department of Nursing (Turkish as language of instruction); Department of Nursing (English as the language of instruction); Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (Turkish as language of instruction); Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (English as the language of instruction); Department of Health Management; Department of Audiology; Department of Speech Therapy; Department of Ergotherapy; Department of Child Development; Department of Midwifery; Department of Occupational Safety and Health; Department of Gerontology; Department of Emergency and Disaster Management. He added that the Faculty of Health Sciences provided 24 educational programs for both master’s degrees and doctorate degrees.

Prof. Dr. Yücecan further added that as an institution, the NEU looked at issues of the educational systems from a broad perspective, it kept up-to-date with latest developments in the field and was an institution that had internalised and ongoing developmental process.
