The Near East University Grand Library, which provides access to 2.5 million printed books and over 1 billion digital resources, is one of the largest libraries in the world with its wealth of works and provides free service to the entire public.

With its modern building with a closed area of 15 thousand square meters and the rich content, the Near East University Grand Library, which is one of the largest libraries not only in Northern Cyprus but also in the region, has 17 movie booths, 12 individual and group study rooms, 4 amphitheaters that can accommodate a thousand people, a theatre stage for 350 people and a study area for a thousand people. The Near East University Grand Library also provides the opportunity to access information in a digital environment 24/7 with the remote access opportunity and state-of-the-art equipment.

Knowledge, culture and art together

One of the most important features of the Near East University Grand Library is that it combines knowledge with culture and art. It also serves its users as a center of knowledge, culture and art with its exhibition areas. It not only provides access to existing information with congresses and meetings held in its fully equipped halls, but also hosts the production of new information.

The Grand Library also provides access to special content on many subjects. The Cyprus documents of the United Kingdom National Archives, which are open to researchers and enthusiasts for use, from the period 1878-1975, are the best example of this. Among the documents that shed light on the history of Cyprus in the period 1878-1975, there are official correspondences of various institutions in Cyprus as well as information on many political, social and economic events that took place on the island. Some of the political documents also include inter-communal negotiations held between 1950-75. The documents include reports kept by United Kingdom officials on newspapers published in Cyprus, various documents on foundations, and investigations conducted on prominent politicians in Cyprus in the relevant years. In addition, the “Cyprus Special Section” includes many works from the first books written about Cyprus to books written today. This feature makes the libraries look like a National Library.

Near East University Grand Library has 10 thousand “Rare Works”!

Research, manuscripts, personal collections, encyclopedias, decrees, maps, important works of our country’s researchers and the CMC archive are also included in the collection.
