Near East University Department of Music Education students will bring the magic of Cypriot music to the stage with a “Cypriot Music Piano Concert” on Friday, March 13th at 8:00 PM.
Near East University, ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, continues to blend culture and art with the rhythm of life. The “Cypriot Music Piano Concert,” organized by the Department of Music Education of the Atatürk Faculty of Education, will take place on Friday, March 13th at 8:00 PM at the Hall 4 of the Near East University Library.
Young pianists studying at the faculty will perform selected works from the Cypriot music repertoire at this concert. The concert will feature much loved Cypriot songs such as “Al Yemeni Mor Yemeni”, “Dillirga”, “Dolama”, “Gelmedin”, “Gave İşdim Telveli”, “Hanaylar Yaptırdım”, “Kebapçıların Şişi”, “Köprüden Geçemedim”, “Kıbrısım”, “Leymosun Türküsü”, “Mağusa Limanı”, “Portakal Atışalım” and “Vaporum Üç Borulu”.
The event, coordinated by lecturer Deniz Amcazade, will feature performances by Arca Akın, Deniz Özkibar, Derin Zeki, Eliz Hastunç, Emre Anbar, İsmet Gürmen, Muzaffer Yeldağ, Öykü Yaşar, Özlem Toycan, Sahil Hacımevlüt, Sıla Küçükceren, Turgut Makinistoğulları and Vedat Çetiner. This free concert will give all music lovers the chance to experience the captivating melodies of Cypriot music firsthand.

Stating that music is one of the most powerful art forms that keeps cultural memory alive, Prof. Dr. Umut Akçıl, Dean of the Atatürk Faculty of Education, said, “Cyprus’ rich musical heritage is a very valuable treasure that contains the history, emotions, and rhythm of life of this island. It is a great source of pride for us that our students brought this heritage to the stage with their own interpretations in the ‘Cypriot Music Piano Concert’.”
