Few days are left for the 1st International Cinema Symposium, which will be organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication and Communication Research Center. The relations between cinema and culture will be discussed at the symposium that will be held between 14 - 16 June under the title of “Culture, Relationship of Cinema and Culture in the Language of Cinema”. Invited speakers Prof. Dr. Oğuz Adanır and Prof. Dr. Serdar Öztürk will make a presentation each. In the digital photography exhibition that will take place within the framework of the symposium, photographs including the concepts of culture, migration, people, life and family of the countries of the Turkish world will be exhibited.

Presentations are open to everyone
Participants in the International Cinema Symposium, which will be held by the Faculty of Communication and Communication Research Center, will make presentations on cinema and culture. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Adanır will make a presentation on "Mutual Interaction Between Culture - Mentality and Cinema" on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 11.00. Hacı Bayram Veli University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Serdar Öztürk will make a presentation titled "Alternative public space in the example of a coffeehouse space in Turkish history: Emotional public space" on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at 11.00. On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Bilkent Faculty Member Dr. Andreas Treske will make a presentation titled “Online Video”. Presentations to be held online will be open to everyone who is interested in.

Digital Photography Exhibition will also be held
There will also be a "Digital Photography Exhibition" within the framework of the symposium. The deadline for the exhibition, where the photographs will be published digitally within the framework of the concepts of culture, migration, people, life and family of the countries of the Turkic world, has been announced as June 10, 2021. Applications for photographs to be exhibited in the digital photography exhibition will be made to [email protected]. Photographs must be sent in jpg format in 30 cm size and 300 dpi resolution.

In the selection committee of the digital photography exhibition to be held within the framework of the 1st International Cinema Symposium organized by the Faculty of Communication - Communication Research Center, Prof. Dr. Ali Muhammet Bayraktaroğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Assist. Prof. Dr. Birsel Matara, photographers Gazi Yüksel and İlke Vural Coşkuner, and photographer and visual artist Fuat Boğaç Evren take place.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap: "The symposium will be held with the participation of academics from all over the world."
One of the members of the International Cinema Symposium organizing board, Near East University Communication Faculty Radio, TV and Cinema Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap stating that the Symposium will be held online and with the participation of academicians from many countries, emphasized that the presentations of the academicians who attended the symposium and the papers will be published as articles. Stating that abstracts can be sent to [email protected], Fevzi Kasap pointed out that after the papers are evaluated and selected by the organizing board, academicians from many countries of the world will present their papers online and share them with the participants.

The organizing committee of the symposium to be held in cooperation with the Turkic World Documentary Film Festival consists of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ufuk Çelik, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay and aculty member lecturer Zuhal Çetin Özkan.
