THE INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION OF NEAR EAST UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF PHARMACY WAS CONFIRMED BY ACPE

Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy received the title of “international accredited faculty of pharmacy” by successfully completing the international independent accreditation process carried out by the USA-based “Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education” (ACPE). Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy broke new ground among pharmacy faculties in the TRNC and Turkish universities with the international  accreditation it received from ACPE. The fact that the accreditation process, which was finalized on January 31, 2023 and valid until 2024, started in 2014 alone gives important clues to the difficulty of the process.

The on-site visit required for the continuation of this international accreditation took place in October 2023 and the ACPE Board’s final decision and recommendations for the future are awaited.

Education quality was inspected by many criteria!

ACPE, which evaluates the quality of pharmacy education around the world and accredits institutions that have passed inspection, uses many criteria to evaluate the quality and suitability of programs. During the accreditation process, where the education and research activities carried out by the academic staff are evaluated, the effectiveness of the faculty in providing access to resources through its library, laboratory, technological infrastructure was also evaluated. In addition to the practical training and internship opportunities offered, the professional skills and ethical values acquired by students also have an important place in the evaluation.

Making a statement about the international accreditation process of the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy, which was successfully completed by the US-based ACPE, Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “This prestigious title received by our faculty of pharmacy is an important milestone in terms of international recognition, showing the quality of education of our university.”

Emphasizing that this international accreditation received by the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy confirms that they have fulfilled their commitment to quality education offered to students from 143 countries of the world, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “I congratulate all our teachers, especially our Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. including İhsan Çalış, who contributed to this success. We will continue to look to the future with hope and maintain our leadership in education.”

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “ACPE accreditation, which reveals the quality of the education our students receive at our Faculty of Pharmacy, is also a proof of the respect our graduates receive all over the world.”

Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ reminded that ACPE evaluates many topics during the international accreditation process, such as academic staff, infrastructure and qualified education opportunities offered to students. Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “In the evaluation process carried out by ACPE, the quality of our academic staff, the effectiveness of our library, laboratory and technological infrastructure, our success in providing access to resources, our practical training and internship opportunities, the professional skills we provide to students and the high level of performance we provide regarding ethical values were taken into account.”

Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış: “We are happy to register our education quality by successfully completing the international accreditation process.”

Dean of Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said that they were proud to be deemed worthy of the title of “accredited faculty of pharmacy” by ACPE by successfully completing the accreditation process, which was quite long and challenging. Prof. Dr. Çalış said, “We are happy to register our education quality by successfully completing the international accreditation process. In this process, it was an important experience for us to evaluate our educational programs and academic staff objectively. The audit process was also very useful in developing innovative training strategies by seeing our strengths and weaknesses.”

Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış also emphasized that the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy has become the first pharmacy faculty in Northern Cyprus and Turkey to successfully complete the ACPE international  accreditation process. Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış said, “In this respect, we would like to thank the academic staff of our faculty, and our administrative bodies including Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel who supported us in every sense, and our Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ.”
