The income of the “Yoga Workshop” event organized by Near East University DESAM Research Institute and Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center in cooperation with YogaKioo Institute Cyprus during the “Children with Leukemia Week” was donated to the Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer Foundation.

Leukemia, one of the most common childhood cancers, requires a long and difficult treatment process for diagnosed children and their families. High public awareness of children with leukemia is one of the most important issues that will ensure that they are not left alone in this fight.

Near East University DESAM Research Institute and Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center organized an awareness event during the “Children with Leukemia Week” in cooperation with YogaKioo Institute Cyprus within the scope of social responsibility. 57 people attended the yoga training given by Near East University Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center Director and DESAM Research Institute Board Member Prof. Dr. Pınar Tulay at YogaKioo Institute Cyprus. All income generated was donated to the Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer Foundation to meet the needs of children with leukemia.

A total of 76 children are being treated with a diagnosis of leukemia in the TRNC!
According to the reports of the American Cancer Society, Leukemia, a disease that affects blood cells in the blood and bone marrow, is one of the most common types of cancer among children and young people. According to the information received from the Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer Foundation, a total of 76 children suffering from leukemia are being treated in the TRNC.

Children struggling with leukemia struggle not only with the physical effects of the disease, but also with difficulties such as staying away from their friends, missing school, and adapting to treatment processes. Therefore, it is extremely important to provide psychological support, education and social assistance to children with leukemia and their families. Being with them during this difficult process is one of the most important responsibilities of society and health institutions.

Near East University Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center Director and DESAM Research Institute Board Member Prof. also took part as an instructor in the awareness event held during the “Children with Leukemia Week”. Prof. Dr. Pınar Tulay emphasized that children fighting leukemia and their families should not be left alone in this fight and said, “While we were raising awareness for our children fighting leukemia with the event we organized, we donated the income we earned to the Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer Foundation.”

Prof. Dr. Pınar Tulay also thanked the managers of Near East University DESAM Research Institute, Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center and YogaKioo Institute Cyprus, who contributed to the organization of the event.
