Olympic star of Northern Cyprus, Buse Savaşkan, underwent a health check-up at the Near East University Hospital.

Buse Savaşkan, who achieved a historic success by making it at the women’s high jump final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, continues her training for her new goal, the European Championship. The national athlete, who entered an intensive training process for her new goal, underwent a comprehensive health screening at the Near East University Hospital in order to take her performance to the top and minimize injury risks.

Savaşkan, who underwent cardiovascular tests such as blood tests, ECG, effort test, heart rhythm measurement and oxygen use, also had the Genetic Sports Test, which examines muscle structure, endurance and explosive power of muscles. The successful athlete, who underwent orthopedic and musculoskeletal system analyzes as well as nutritional and metabolic evaluation tests, had her body fat ratio, muscle-bone density and metabolic rate measured.

Buse Savaşkan, who examines her physical condition with detailed analyses to prepare for the European Championship in the best way, continues her training to get one step closer to her goals.

The performance code will be deciphered with a genetic sports test!

The genetic sports tests offered by NEU Sports Academy with the facilities of the Near East University Hospital aim to reveal individuals’ predispositions to sports branches and take their performance to the highest level. The test applied to Buse Savaşkan will also support her athletic abilities with scientific data and help create special training and nutrition programs for her. The test performed at the Near East University Hospital Medical Genetic Diagnostic Laboratory will analyze factors such as endurance, explosive power of muscles and predisposition to injury risk, contributing to push Savaşkan’s performance to the highest level. The test results that will emerge will provide detailed information on critical factors such as muscle structure and injury risks, and will guide the national athlete in reaching her new goals.

Who is Buse Savaşkan?

Born in Cyprus in 1999 and known internationally for her success in the high jump, Turkish Cypriot national athlete Buse Savaşkan first stepped into her international career by competing in the European Junior Athletics Championships in Tbilisi in 2016. Savaşkan has since shown remarkable performances in various championships in Turkey and Europe. Winning the Turkish champion titles outdoors in 2020 and indoors in 2021, Savaşkan won the bronze medal at the 2021 Balkan Indoor Championships with a jump of 1.80 meters. Competing in the women’s high jump final at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the national athlete repeated her personal best with a jump of 1.92 meters. With this success, Savaşkan rose to 20th place in the world rankings and reached the highest ranking of her career.
