2050 Mission was explained…….
Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel accepted the team of the NEUIslanders, Robotic Soccer Team of Near East University, in his office and congratulated them for becoming the world champion in RoboCup 2018 that held in Montreal, Canada.

Near East University Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office released that the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel along with NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel accepted the team of NEUIslanders, the robotic soccer team of Near East University, and congratulated them for becoming RoboCup 2018 undefeated champion by defeating the robotic soccer teams of the world's leading universities.

Underlining their commitment to representing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at international platforms, Dr. Günsel explained that RoboCup is an international scientific initiative with the goal to advance the state of the art of intelligent robots. "The original mission of this scientific initiative is to field a team of robots capable of winning against the human soccer World Cup champions by 2050. We are proud of becoming the undefeated champ of 2018 RoboCup held in Montreal, Canada. I congratulate all team members for their success. I firmly believe that the team is dedicated to continuing their works on developing artificial intelligence in order to take part in the 2050 project which aims to field a robotic soccer team to play against the human soccer champion of the World Cup that will be organized by FIBA” said he.

"Although we live on a small island, NEUIslanders, the robotic soccer team of our university has left the world's most outstanding universities behind and became the undefeated world champion in RoboCup 2018 thanks to robots and artificial intelligence that created and developed by R & D team of Near East University Innovation Research Center. The world championship of our robotic soccer team is of great importance in terms of showing where we stand now in innovative works in general and in artificial intelligence in particular” noted he.

Underlining that the artificial intelligence of the robotic soccer team was developed entirely by the engineers working at the research center of the Near East University, Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel stated that it was a great accomplishment as works on artificial intelligence had a very important place in the basis of the future technologies. He also highlighted the importance of further works on artificial intelligence.

Expressing that becoming the World Champ was a pride event, Dr. Suat İ. Günsel stated that the artificial intelligence of the robotic soccer team of Near East University should be further developed to place in 2050 organization.


Ersin Aytaç: "We'll work for greater success"
On behalf of his team, Near East University Robotic Soccer Team Captain Ersin Aytaç extended his thanks to the Founding Rector Dr. Günsel in recognition of his ten years of support to the Robotic Laboratory of Near East University. Expressing that they would be working to achieve greater success, he underlined their commitment to working harder to achieve the 2050 mission.

Highlighting that the original mission of RoboCup organization was to field a robot team capable to compete against the human soccer World Cup champion to be organized by FIBA by 2050, Ersin Aytaç underlined that the robot soccer team that will take part in this match will be determined according to the achievements and talents on artificial intelligence of the team.

It is expected that Robotic Soccer Teams would be capable to fight against Human Soccer Teams by 2050...
Ersin Aytaç indicated that it was expected to develop robots capable to jump and head the ball by 2025. "It is projected to field a soccer team consisting of 8 robots against human soccer teams in 2030. It is predicted that by 2040, the robots will be capable to compete 11 to 11 at the standards set by FIBA. It is predicted that robots capable to win against the human soccer world champion will be field by 2050" said he.

Underlining the importance of sustaining the works on developing and improving artificial intelligence in the line of these predictions and expectations, Ersin Aytaç stated that they were devoted to keeping the works in an increasing manner without any interruption in order to be the team to play against the human soccer champion in the World Cup 2050.
