The first film screening of the “Barrier-free Cinema Festival” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication at the Barrier-free Cinema and Activity Center was held with great excitement. The first guests of the Barrier-free Cinema Festival organized in collaboration with Telsim, Algım Special Education Center students, watched the film “Maya the Bee”.

The event was coordinated by Near East University Public Relations and Publicity Department Lecturer Ufuk Altunç. The event, which realized with intense participation, was attended by Near East University Faculty of Communication Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay, Telsim General Manager Sefer Tüz, Telsim Deputy General Manager Fevzi Tanpınar, Public Relations and Publicity Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamil Kanipek, Algım Special Education Institutions Founding Manager Evren Karademir and Telsim Corporate Communications Manager Nil Zorlu Atai.

The “Barrier-Free Cinema Festival”, which aims to touch the lives of individuals with special needs and contribute to their taking a more active role in social life, will continue for a year and will present entertaining films free of charge. Individuals with special needs will be able to attend the film screenings to be organized as part of the festival through their schools or individually through an appointment system. During the screenings, participants will be served popcorn and drinks, providing them with an enjoyable cinema experience.

Sefer Tüz: “We look forward to developing new projects that will benefit society by collaborating with Near East University in the future.”

Telsim General Manager Sefer Tüz drew attention to the deep and meaningful story of the Barrier-Free Cinema and Activity Center and stated that this story will become even more important as the years pass. Stating that the project strengthens social awareness and participation by increasing the access of disabled individuals to art and social activities in particular, Tüz expressed that they are very happy to be involved in such a beneficial project with Near East University.

Emphasizing that Vodafone has supported many social responsibility projects to date and that they will continue to play an active role in such projects, Tüz said, “We look forward to developing new projects that will benefit society in cooperation with Near East University in the future. These projects help us build a more inclusive and sensitive society by increasing social awareness.”

Stating that “Providing disabled individuals with equal and fair quality education opportunities is one of our top priorities.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay, Vice Dean of Near East University’s Faculty of Communication, said, “It is extremely important for us to reinforce this integrity through art and reach every segment of society. Thanks to the festivals we organize, we aim to create awareness in society by overcoming obstacles with the power of art and to ensure that disabled individuals are also involved with art.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay said “Coming together with the universal language of art, eliminating obstacles and being together under equal conditions inspires us.”, and further added; “We will continue to work with all our might to reach every segment of society and make everyone feel the unifying power of art. Our greatest wish is to continue to carry out such projects.”
