It was revealed that prepared especially for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and consisting of 30 art pieces, the exhibition of the 5 Kazakh artists has been opened by the General Director of National Unity Party Ersin Tatar.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the exhibition was opened at Exhibition Hall of Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University to which General Director of National Unity Party Ersin Tatar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Assoc. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Özay Günsel Children’s University Anna Günsel, Deputy General secretary f National Unity Party Ahmet Savaşan, Vice Rectors, Deans, Academic staff, artists and guests attended.

It was pointed out that Founding Head of Managing board of Cyprus National History Museum and Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, on behalf of the Kazakh artists Zhenis Nurlybayev and General Director of National Unity Party Ersin Tatar each made a speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Prof. Dr. Özkul: “As Near East University, we are realising the mission of promoting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus via Art…”
It was stated that the opening speech of the exhibition was made by Head of Managing board of Cyprus National History Museum and Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul who stated that since the date of foundation in 1988, Near East University is continuing to realise its significant mission which is to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Özkul stated that once considering the geographical position of the island, NEU has always been the accomplisher of firsts. While achieving these accomplishments, the Near East University always prioritised ways of serving both the community and the country. Moreover, he said that in order to reflect how deep our roots went down on the island, NEU has made many efforts to attain achievements. In addition to all these, the NEU has emphasised the significance of art by opening many museums within its body.

Prof. Dr. Özkul further asserted that art and science were like the two wings of a bird which enable it to fly. In this regard, he reminded everyone of achievements regarding the solar-powered car, robotic football team and electric powered Günsel automobile. He also gave examples from art and said that humans have always sought ways of expressing themselves via art. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, said that the two milestones of art were brotherhood and peace, and thus Near East University always leaded the society in this direction.

Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul added that thy started the “Alaysa science awards”. From these awards, they are beginning to present awards in 5 different fields. Other than art and photography, Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul said that they were to give an award in a third branch regarding ceramics. Also, he expressed that entrance to museums will be free of charge on museums week.

Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul stressed that in order to be an artist, an individual was born with that gift. Moreover, he stressed his strong belief that not everybody could be an artist since art is a reflection of development. He said that whenever we wished to open up to the world, we needed to remember the ‘two wings of the bird’. Thus, he stressed that in order to promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, art was essential as science

Speaking on behalf of the Kazakh artists, Zhenis Nurlybayev stated that thanks to Sembimgali Smagulov, they found the opportunity to find out about the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts and the Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel. In this regard, he expressed how happy they all were to be here in Cyprus. Furthermore, Nurlybayev stated that they wanted to leave a mark of Kazakh spirit on the island via their art. He thanked the NEU for the hospitality they saw and that they were given the chance to explore the natural and historical beauties of the island of Cyprus. He ended his words by stating how proud they were to contribute to the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.

Ersin Tatar: “I would like to congratulate Near East University for the devotion shown to art as it has also positively contributed to the promotion of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus …”
In his speech, General director of National Unity Party Ersin Tatar expressed gratitude to Near East University for all efforts on art and thus, the promotion of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He added that these exhibitions have been a medium for getting closer and forming stronger bonds with Turkic countries.

He ended his words by thanking everyone involved in realising the event and stressed his strong belief that artists were born with a special gift enabling them to create art which were reflections making marks in history.

Subsequent to the speeches, it was stated that the 5 Kazakh artists were presented certificates of gratitude by the General Director of National Unity Party Ersin Tatar. Then the opening ribbon was cut, and the exhibition was explored. It was pointed out that the exhibition will be open to visit until 20th May 2019 at 08:00-16:00 on weekdays at the Exhibition Hall of Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University.
