The diabetes camp, which will be followed by a group of 60 participants staying at the Mimoza Beach Hotel for three days, aims to train and provide the participants with updates on diabetes management, physiotherapy and nutrition by specialists from the Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences. The camp, which will be full of educational programs and workshops for the participants, will also create practical opportunities for the effective application of the information conveyed in daily life.
The “Diabetes Camp”, where the participants will share their experiences interactively, will also guide the participants on diabetes management during the “Public Health Week” celebrated in the first week of September.
Direct training from specialists to participants
Thanks to the interactive structure of the camp, participants will be able to share their own problems with people who have similar problems and have a more productive experience by communicating one-on-one with specialists.
Throughout the camp, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuba Yerlikaya from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University will discuss the subject of “Diabetes and Physiotherapy”; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hoca from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics will make a presentation on “Diabetes and Nutrition”, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müjgan Kuşi will explain the role of nutrients in diabetes management with her presentation titled “The Importance of Food Consumption in the Management of Diabetes”.
Dietician Gizem Oymacı will provide information on how to create a balanced diet plan to control blood sugar with her “Glycemic Index and Meal Planning Guide”, while Podiatrist Kayra Besim will share detailed information on protecting foot health for individuals with diabetes with her presentation “Foot Care and Our Health”.

Stating that the “Diabetes Camp” to be organized together with the Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences and the Turkish Cypriot Diabetes Association will be an important step in the fight against diabetes, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel, Director of the Near East University DESAM Research Institute, said, “The camp, which will last for three days, will allow health professionals to update their knowledge and skills, while at the same time, awareness and consciousness about diabetes will be increased at the events to be organized.”
Emphasizing that the camp coincides with the ‘Public Health Week’ celebrated in the first week of September, Assoc. Cenk Serhan Özverel said, “The camp we are holding during this meaningful time will not only increase public health awareness but also provide participants with comprehensive information on diabetes prevention, management and treatment. This event will play an important role in improving public health.”
