The cooperation protocol between the Supreme Electoral Board and Near East University was renewed

The technical and academic cooperation protocol between the Near East University and the Supreme Electoral Board regarding the elections held throughout the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has been renewed. The protocol, of which duration was extended with the signatures of President of the Supreme Court and Supreme Election Board Narin Ferdi Şefik and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel covers presidential, parliamentary and local elections and referendums.

Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and members of the Supreme Election Board also attended the signing ceremony held for the renewal of the cooperation protocol between the two institutions.


Near East University will continue to provide technical support to the SEB when necessary.

With the renewed cooperation protocol, Near East University will continue to provide technical support in the elections held in the TRNC, if needed by the SEB. Within the scope of the protocol, Near East University will provide technical support and consultancy to the SEB, upon request, regarding computer systems that will make preparations possible for the elections to be held in the TRNC, prepare the program, receive the results and announce or reflect them to the public through Radio and Television.

Narin Ferdi Şefik: “In case of a problem, knowing that Near East University is with us for technical support is a great assurance for us.”

Stating that they came together to renew the cooperation protocol between the Near East University and the Supreme Electoral Board, Narin Ferdi Şefik, President of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Electoral Board, said: “In case of a problem, it is a great assurance for us to know that the Near East University is with us for technical support.”

Narin Ferdi Şefik, regarding the recurring cooperation protocol, said “For the last few elections, we have run the election processes smoothly with our own IT team. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our IT team. However, in case we encounter a technical problem, to receive support from a university is a great assurance for us. Near East University has been providing us with this support for years. We are happy to continue this cooperation. I hope it will be good and auspicious.”

Reminding that Near East University has been providing technical support and consultancy on computer systems to the Supreme Electoral Board for many years, Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “As a university ranked among the top 300 universities in the world in the field of Computer Sciences by Times Higher Education, we see offering our resources to the service of our state as a requirement of our responsibility towards our country.”
