The book “Healthy Aging Through the Eyes of Different Disciplines”, in which 39 academics who are experts in their fields address the aging process from many aspects, has been published by Near East University Publications. Bringing together scientists from different disciplines such as Medicine, Gerontology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Social Sciences, Law, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Audiology, Psychology, Social Services and Sports Sciences, the book guides its readers on the healthy aging process with multi-faceted perspectives.
The book titled “Healthy Aging Through the Eyes of Different Disciplines” and edited by Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University Prof. Dr. Adile Öniz, Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören from the Faculty of Medicine of Near East University, faculty members of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca İnanç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Kösemihal, was recently presented to President Ersin Tatar. President Tatar pointed out the importance of the study, which was handled by many different disciplines, and drew attention to the fact that the book is an important resource on healthy aging.
One of the editors of the book, Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören, emphasized that the studies conducted showed that the island of Cyprus is one of the most suitable addresses for healthy aging in the world with its environmental and social advantages. Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Adile Öniz said that the book, consisting of 40 chapters written by 39 authors from Near East University and universities of the Republic of Turkey, will be used as a textbook by universities and that the public can also benefit from the book.

All proceeds of the book, which addresses healthy aging not only from a medical perspective but also from a legal and social perspective, will be donated to the Foundation of Help to Cancer Patients (TULIPS). Founded in 1993 and supporting cancer patients in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, TULIPS is a non-governmental organization that provides significant assistance and support to patients and their families battling cancer. The foundation aims to raise awareness about cancer, alleviate the difficulties experienced by patients and their families, and provide morale and financial support. In this context, it collects funds to reduce the financial difficulties that cancer patients face during their treatment processes and uses these funds for medicine, treatment costs, medical supplies and other needs.

Prof. Dr. Adile Öniz, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Near East University, who is one of the editors of the book “Healthy Aging Through the Eyes of Different Disciplines” and also a volunteer member of TULIPS, emphasized the healthy aging brought about by the extended life span and the need to manage this process correctly. Stating that this process, which combines multiple perspectives in areas such as health, social, law and psychology, also requires the coming together of many disciplines, Prof. Dr. Öniz said, “To meet the need in this area, our book ‘Healthy Aging Through the Eyes of Different Disciplines’, which was completed with a multidisciplinary approach, will be an important guide for the healthy aging process.”
