The book “General Theory of Law: Its Historical Development and Contemporary Situation in Turkey”, written by Near East University Faculty of Law lecturer Prof. Dr. Mehman Damirli as the first source of the field, has been published. The book, published by Adalet Publishing House, stands out as the only source examining the historical development of the Turkish legal field. The book, which is the first and only book ever written in Turkish on the history of general legal theory, includes a review of all the literature in the field of legal theory from the 1880s to the present.

A pioneering review of the law!
Public law expert Prof. Dr. Kemal Gözler, one of the doyens of the field of law, made a detailed analysis in his article in which he mentioned highly of the book titled “General Theory of Law: Its Historical Development and Contemporary Situation in Turkey”, written by Near East University Faculty of Law lecturer Prof. Dr. Mehman Damirli.

Prof. Dr. Gözler praised Prof. Dr. Mehman A. Damirli’s by saying: “What Mehman A. Damirli did is not a simple literature review. Damirli’s work is not just a descriptive work. Damirli systematically analyzes the doctrine he describes and directs systematic and detailed criticisms to this doctrine. Since the 1880s in Turkey, every writer who has written something even remotely related to the general theory of law has been the subject of Mehman A. Damirli’s examination and criticism. All of us, including me, measure our height in Mr. Damirli’s book. For my part, I read these criticisms with pleasure and while reading them, I said to myself, ‘That’s not even enough.'” Prof. Dr. Gözler also defines the book as “one of the rare books in Turkish legal literature that should be taken as an example in terms of citation and citation procedures.”

Dr. Kemal Özler, who has carried out many national and international studies in the field of law and is especially known for his contributions to this field, in his evaluation of the book titled “General Theory of Law: Its Historical Development and Contemporary Situation in Turkey” thanked Prof. Dr. Mehman A. Damirli, and said, “As a member and representative of this theory, I would like to thank him for providing such a service to the Turkish legal theory. Prof. Damirli, although you came to our doctrine ‘long after its time’, that’s ok; It looks like we will benefit greatly from you. Welcome!”
