The 3rd International Cinema Symposium hosted by Near East University continues

Organized by Near East University Communication Research Center and Near East University Faculty of Communication Radio, Television and Cinema Department, “3rd. “International Cinema Symposium” has started. Approximately 40 papers will be presented in 8 sessions at the symposium, which will be published online through the official YouTube channel of Near East University throughout the week.

International Cinema Symposium, held for the third time this year, is supported by the world’s leading universities in addition to the partnership of TRNC Presidency, TRNC Assembly, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema, TRNC Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Culture Department, Turkish World Culture Art and Cinema Foundation, Communication Research Center (İLAD) and IKSAD.

Main theme: Culture – Identity – Ideology
This year’s symposium, of which main theme is “Culture – Identity – Ideology”, aims to open these concepts to scientific and artistic discussion on the axis of cinema. The symposium, which is open to the participation of researchers, academicians, students and artists from all fields of social sciences, aims to ensure that the topics discussed are discussed not only in cinema and art, but also in other disciplines related to cinema.

On the first day of the 3rd International Cinema Symposium; Head of Near East University Communication Research Center Prof. Dr. Fevzi Kasap; Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University and President of the Center of Excellence Prof. Dr. Evren Hıncal and TRNC Deputy Prime Minister and Director of the Culture Department of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Şirin Zaferyıldızı Zaim Ağaoğlu attended as invited speakers. At the symposium, where the International Short Film and International Photography Contest will also be held, the online exhibition of the International Photography Contest will be presented to art lovers.

Near East University 3rd Cinema Symposium Film Festival finalists have been determined
From a total of 217 applications made through the FilmFreeway page of the Near East University 3rd Cinema Symposium Film Festival, 166 films that met the specifications were accepted into the competition and delivered to the preliminary jury. The preliminary jury was chaired by Cinema Writer Hayri Çölaşan and consisted of Academician Azime Cantaş, Director Fehmi Öztürk, Academician Göral Erinç Yılmaz, Academician Mert Yusuf Özlük, Academician Özgür İpek, Academician Serkan Fundalar, Producer Süleyman Bedri Kalyoncuoğlu, Academician Zeyde Yalıner Örek. With the evaluation, a total of 16 films were determined as finalists in the Animation, Documentary, Experimental, Fiction and Student Short Film categories.
