The “Fine Arts Teaching Staff Group Exhibition” hosted by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, consisting of 40 artworks, was opened by the Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu, at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall. The exhibition, which will be open to art lovers until 30 July, brings together the works of 14 artists. The exhibition includes oil paint, acrylic, stencil and sculpture works by the artists. One of the most prominent features of the Fine Arts Faculty Members Group Exhibition is that it is the 375th exhibition held by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts.
The opening ceremony hosted by Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel at the Atatürk Culture and Congress Center Exhibition Hall and attended by the Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu, Head of Near East Enterprises Museums Department Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul and Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç who also delivered speeches.
Olgun Amcaoğlu: “We have a great responsibility to ensure that all our children who are educated establish a greater connection with art”
Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu started his speech at the opening ceremony of the group exhibition by emphasizing that artistic works shed light on the future of the country. Stating that educational institutions should play a leading role in the development of society, Minister Amcaoğlu said, “In addition to the academic and scientific studies of the Near East Enterprises, every museum, exhibition and artistic work it opens makes us grow and develop a little more.” Stating that state institutions should also provide all kinds of support for art to become much more visible in daily life, Amcaoğlu said, “We have a great responsibility to ensure that all our children, especially those who are educated, establish a greater connection with art.”
Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul: “It should be known that an artist can also be a good scientist. Because the common point of art and science is the effort to reach the truth
Head of Museums Department of Near East Enterprises Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul started his speech at the opening of the exhibition by emphasizing the relationship between art and science. Stating that art and science are a balance element in people’s life and that they are the most important elements that make up the cultural accumulation of the society, Prof. Dr. Özkul said, “It should be known that an artist can also be a good scientist. Because the common aspect of art and science is the effort to reach the truth.”
“The works exhibited here are the product of tremendous effort and intense disciplined work,” saying Prof. Dr. Özkul continued his words as follows; “Our exhibition, which brings together paintings, ceramics and prints made in different themes and in various techniques by the distinguished faculty members of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, is the 375th exhibition held by the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts. In addition, the artworks in our exhibition reveal the perspectives, working methods and techniques of the artists. These artworks are symbols of the positive message our artists give to the world despite all the negativities. I would like to thank all the artists who contributed.”

Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Dean Prof. Dr. Erdal Aygenç emphasized in his speech that art and science are intertwined and together shaped history, culture and civilizations. Stating that the artistic production, which continues under the roof of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, has made a great contribution to the cultural heritage of the Turkish Cypriot Community in particular and the whole humanity in general, Prof. Dr. Aygenç said, “As the faculty members of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University, we are very happy and proud to be a part of this artistic production. Prof. Dr. Aygenç also pointed out that the Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, which has been working to open an exhibition every month for a long time, has been followed with envy by its peers.
Prof. Dr. Aygenç concluded his speech by thanking Dr. Raif Kızıl, Selçuk Yalovalı, Serkan İlseven and Vedia Okutan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Ergün, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yücel Yazgın, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murad Allahverdiyev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rana Emrahova, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hastürk, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mine Okur, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hasan Zeybek, Assist. Prof. Dr. Evrim Ergün, Dr. Gökhan Okur, and Dr. Aysel Mirkasimova, who contributed to the “Fine Arts Faculty Members Group Exhibition” and participated in each of the exhibitions with their artworks.
