
The rectors of Prizren Ukshin Hoti University, Istanbul Technical University and Kyrenia University also attended the “1st International NEU DESAM Biotechnology Congress” where 112 researchers from the USA, Germany, Austria, United Arab Emirates, China, Iran, TRNC, Kosovo, Egypt, Pakistan and Turkey presented their studies.
The four-day “1st International Biotechnology Congress” held by the Near East University DESAM Research Institute has concluded. The congress, where 112 researchers from the USA, Germany, Austria, United Arab Emirates, China, Iran, TRNC, Kosovo, Egypt, Pakistan and Turkey presented their studies, was held with intense participation.
On the third day of the congress, which the Rector of Prizren Ukshin Hoti University from Kosovo, Assoc. Mentor Alishani also attended, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Rector, former TUBITAK President, Presidential Science, Technology and Innovation Policies President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal also participated as a speaker.
In his presentation titled “Developing Biotechnology for a Sustainable Future with a Co-Creation and Co-Achievement Approach” on the third day, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal drew attention to the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of biotechnology. Emphasizing that a sustainable future can only be possible by bringing together knowledge and experience in different fields, Prof. Dr. Mandal stated that such international congresses offer a great opportunity in terms of scientific sharing and development of joint projects.
More than 60 presentations were made during the 4-day congress held at the Near East University Irfan Günsel Congress Center. The studies presented by experts in many fields such as medicine, dentistry, health sciences, veterinary medicine, artificial intelligence, mathematics and engineering will also be published as articles and shared with the scientific world.

Near East University will continue to host international congresses
Making a statement about the congress, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “The 1st International Biotechnology Congress that we hosted once again revealed the importance of scientific cooperation and multidisciplinary studies. Scientists from 11 countries had the opportunity to discuss the limitless opportunities offered by biotechnology at our congress. Such international meetings encourage not only the exchange of academic knowledge but also the production of innovative solutions based on science and technology. We will continue to host international congresses where we will bring together the world’s best researchers in their fields in Northern Cyprus.”
Near East University DESAM Research Institute Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel said, “Our congress brought together many researchers who aim to find solutions to current problems faced by the biotechnology world. The studies presented by scientists from different countries will open new doors in this field and guide the technologies of the future.”
