The 15th International Symposium on the Chemistry of Natural Compounds (SCNC), where the latest developments and analyses on herbal pharmaceutical raw materials will be discussed, will be organized by Near East University in Antalya between 2-5 November.

At the international symposium, topics such as the chemistry, pharmacology, biological activities and technology of natural compounds, the use of natural ingredients in the formulation of cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, phytotherapy and aromatherapy, dietary supplements and functional foods will be discussed. Additionally, regulatory aspects and formulations of natural compounds, extracts, essential oils and recent developments in the field of phytochemicals will also be discussed.

The symposium, which was held for the 15th time this year is held every two years following the agreement signed in 1993 between Yunusov Institute of Chemistry of Plant Materials (ICPS) affiliated with Tashkent University and Near East University. The symposium, which was previously held seven times in Uzbekistan, six times in Turkey and twice in China, will be held in Antalya this year with the organization of Near East University.

The symposium, which was held under the honorary chairmanship of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, will be chaired by Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy Department Head and Graduate Education Institute Director, Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer.


21 scientists from 7 countries are coming together!
The symposium will last four days and will bring together 21 speakers who are experts in their fields from China, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, the United States, South Africa and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. At the symposium, where 30 verbal and poster presentations will be presented in 13 sessions, Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış will also take part as a speaker.

Emphasizing that Near East University brings together world-class scientists in many fields with the national and international scientific events it hosts, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “In this way, we continue to expand the boundaries of science by bringing together various perspectives that will open space for new discoveries and ideas.”

Emphasizing that the 15th International Symposium on Chemistry of Natural Substances, which will bring together many scientists from China, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, the United States of America, South Africa and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is a very important example on this topic, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “Our esteemed lecturer, Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Can Başer, who is one of the world’s leading scientists in his field, will chair the symposium which will open new horizons in the field.”
