The 10-Floor New Building of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Near East University, which will come into service on 15th November, will house 45 Departments

Following the opening ceremony on 15th November 2017, the Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences will continue to offer quality education in its new building that is equipped with high-end laboratories.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the new building will house the Faculty of Health Sciences and Vocational School of Health Services. Housing 45 departments, this new facility will provide educational opportunities on a wide range of educational programs including associate degrees, undergraduate degrees, master’s degrees and doctoral degree programs. Being committed to providing quality and excellence in education, the Near East University aims to utilize this new facility to raise highly competent health professionals that are equipped with comprehensive knowledge, talent and professional ethics. Besides, Faculty of Health Sciences and Vocational of Health Services will undertake a significant role in raising specialists and health technicians for Near East University Hospital, NEU Dental Hospital, and NEU Animal Hospital.

Faculty of Health Sciences attaches a special focus on offering education-training and research opportunities in compliance with standards and criteria set by national and international bodies. In this regard, the Departments including Nutrition and Dietetics;

Nursing; Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation; Health Management; Audiology, Speech and Language Therapy; Ergotherapy; Child Development; Midwifery; Occupational Health and Safety; Gerontology; Emergency and Disaster Management are dedicated to raise high-caliber health providers. Furthermore, 6 master’s degrees will be offered in the Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Occupational Health and Safety Department. Additionally, 2 doctorate degrees will be offered by the Nutrition and Dietetics and Nursing Departments.


Vocational School of Health Services will raise health technicians through 23 different educational programs…

Vocational School of Health Services, which has raised qualified health technicians equipped with comprehensive knowledge and professional skills so far, will continue to provide quality education via 23 distinctive programs in the new building. Moreover, a number of technicians will be raised in fields including oral and dental health; operating theatre services; anesthesia; biomedical device technology; child development; dialysis technician; midwifery technician; pharmacy services; electroneurophysiology; physiotherapy; first and emergency aid; occupational health and safety; laborant and veterinary health; audiometry; opticianry; prosthesis, orthopedics; pathology laboratory technician, perfusion technician; radiotherapy technician; medical documentation and secretarial; medical imaging technology; medical laboratory technician and geriatrics.

Laboratories equipped with latest technological devices….

It was emphasized that the new facility included laboratories with contemporary devices; all of which will be utilized to offer quality education to NEU students; such that, the new building of the Faculty of Health Sciences comprises 18 laboratories of high end technological equipment.

Some of the most significant laboratories include FIR Laboratory; Nursing Laboratory; Nutrition and Dietetics Laboratory; Microbiology Laboratory; Speech and Language Therapy Laboratory; Ergotherapy Laboratory; and Audiology Laboratory.

Amphitheatre section of the building will also be provided to service…

The new building of Faculty of Health Sciences includes a section of amphitheatres and here there are 4 amphitheatres of 1000 people capacity, which will be opened to service on 15th November, 2017. Also, the facility also comprises 30 lecture halls of different sizes, some of which are of 2000 people capacity.

Vice Rector of Near East University, also in charge of Health, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, made a statement regarding the new building of Faculty of Health Sciences to be put to service on 15th November and expressed that the facility, equipped with high-end technology would be utilized to raise competent health professionals alongside raising health-technicians demanded by the field. He added that graduates from the Faculty of Health Sciences will be later meet the workforce needed primarily by Near East university Hospital, NEU Dental Hospital and NEU Animal Hospital. Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ added that the new facility will be used to raise highly competent health professionals and health service providers who will offer their skills and accumulated knowledge to the health services sector of the country and be of benefit to the community. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ emphasized his strong belief that those educated and trained at the new facility would get a head start to the field due to being well educated, and equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge required to be highly competent in the field. Additionally, he stated that graduates of the Faculty of Health Sciences will therefore be individuals ready to work collaboratively in a team, use his/her theoretical knowledge and adapt theory to practical applications as required.
