It was revealed that subsequent to the successful operation made by specialists at the Near East University Animal Hospital, the six legged calf, named Lucky, had returned to its normal life and was continuing to grow healthily.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, the six legged calf, which was born on a farm in Dikmen in 2015, was successfully operated on at the NEU Animal Hospital. As a result, it was stated the the , calf had returned to its normal life and that it was continuing to grow healthily.

Ergene: “We are keeping a close eye on Lucky (Şanslı), observing its growth and development!”

Making a statement on the matter, Chief Physician of the Near East University Animal Hospital, Assist. Prof. Dr. Osman Ergene, expressed that the calf had been born with an abnormality. He stated that the calf was born six legged and that subsequent to the four hours of operation at the NEU Animal Hospital, the extra limbs of the animal was successfully amputated. Ergene emphasised that this had caused the calf to survive and thus, this had indirectly made a contribution to the country’s economy. Additionally, Ergene pointed out that since the operation, which was carried out two months ago, they were constantly keeping a close eye on the calf; observing its growth and development. In this regard, Ergene expressed that they, as the NEU Animal Hospital, felt rather happy and proud as they had been very successful in such a challenging task in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
