Near East University Hospital, which meets international quality standards in health, has taken its place among the few hospitals in the world with the quality accreditation it received from TEMOS, the Germany-based accreditation organization.
The “Total Quality Management” studies and practices that Near East University Hospital has been carrying out for many years have reached their peak with TEMOS (Trust, Effective Medicine, Optimize Services) accreditation, which registers international quality in healthcare services.

Near East University Hospital’s quality, inspected by TEMOS, an independent accreditation institution based in Germany that works with international patient care and management and follows patient safety standards, has been registered in healthcare services by receiving the “Quality In Medical Care” international accreditation certificate. As a result of the TEMOS audit, where trust, effective treatment and optimized health services are measured, Near East University Hospital met the TEMOS International Quality Standards and was entitled to receive the “Quality Certificate in Medical Care”.

The regular and intensive studies carried out by the Near East University Hospital in order to meet international quality standards in health, the “Quality Council” and the “Quality Coordination” established within this scope, and the organization structure for total quality management in which all units of the hospital are included, have resulted in total success.

Great success was achieved by meeting the 500 standards set by TEMOS
TEMOS, an independent organization based in Germany, which came to inspect the Near East University Hospital to accredit it on 6-8 September 2023, announced the “Audit Report” it prepared based on the 500 standards it determined, officially stating that the Near East University Hospital meets the International Quality Standards and is accredited.

Near East University Hospital was inspected by TEMOS, which uses medical standards that are accredited by “ISQua/IEEA”, the umbrella organization for quality and accreditation activities, and has regional representatives in 14 countries in the world, in 4 different categories, under a total of 19 headings, in more than 500 standards.

Near East University Hospital has been evaluated for the TEMOS Accreditation Certificate, to which only health centers with effective quality management systems in the world can apply, on Medical Services, Nursing and Midwifery Services, Outpatient and Inpatient Services, Emergency and Intensive Care Services, Operating Room, Laboratory and Imaging Services, Blood Bank and Blood Management, International Billing and Accounting, Documentation, Discharge and Follow-Up, International Patient Management, Governance-Management and Leadership, Committees, Infection Control, Hygiene and Prevention, Quality Management, Ethics and Sustainability, International Patient Safety, Facility Services Infrastructure and Security, International Patient Services and Legal Aspects in International Patient Management, Human Resources, Continuing Medical Education and Training.

Near East University Hospital, which has become one of the leading hospitals in the world by being entitled to receive TEMOS’s International Health Quality Accreditation certificate, has also strengthened the health tourism potential of the island, a first in Cyprus.

TEMOS certificate is of great importance to make a difference in health tourism.
TEMOS International, an independent auditing organization founded in Germany in 2010, stands out as one of the most important accreditation bodies in the field of healthcare, with regional offices in many parts of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and America. TEMOS accreditation, which is given to centers that meet the target criteria in the health sector, is considered an important certificate that health institutions that want to make a difference in health tourism in the world must have. The existence of TEMOS accreditation, which registers standards in high service quality and sustainability in health, plays an important role in choosing a health center for patients seeking treatment services abroad.

As the first step in its Quality Certification goals, Near East University Hospital recently received the ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System Certificate of Excellence.

Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen: “TEMOS accreditation is an important step that will accelerate the flow of patients from the world to our country.”
Reminding that Near East University Hospital, the leading health center of Cyprus, has been continuing its activities with the vision of becoming an internationally sought-after hospital with its service quality and scientific studies since it was put into service in 2010, Near East University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen said, “As Near East University Hospital, we aim to transform the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus into an important health tourism center while strengthening the country’s health system. In this respect, the TEMOS (Trust-Effective Medicine-Optimized Services) accreditation that we were entitled to receive was an important step that will accelerate the flow of patients from the world to our country.”

“During the 8-month period, throughout which we prepared for the accreditation process, we reviewed our hospital’s organizational and health services processes and made the necessary arrangements. We have activated new services such as telemedicine. We are proud to have the TEMOS certificate as a result of this intensive preparation process and inspections.”

Burcu Süerdem: “Our hospital was registered as the ‘Preferred Health Services Provider’ by the Diplomatic Council with TEMOS accreditation, and was added to the service database of the International Assistance Group (IAG).”
Near East University Hospital Quality Coordinator Burcu Süerdem said in her statement: “Adopting our Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel’s vision and mission as a principle, we worked regularly as a team to obtain the internationally valid ‘Quality Accreditation in Medical Care’ for our hospital. In order to perfect our quality in our health services and to follow world standards in the fields of patient services, patient care, outpatient and inpatient medical services, imaging services, patient safety and employee safety, we applied for TEMOS Accreditation and proudly crowned the success of our hospital.”

Süerdem said, “While our hospital was registered as the ‘Preferred Health Services Provider’ by the Diplomatic Council with TEMOS accreditation, it was also added to the service database of the International Assistance Group (IAG). Near East University Hospital, which has its name written as an accredited health center on TEMOS’s corporate website and social media accounts, has contributed greatly to Northern Cyprus being one of the new routes of agencies operating in health tourism in the world. With this accreditation, a great contribution has been made to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus becoming internationally known and a strong destination in health tourism.”
