Near East University, ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, continues to welcome students during the higher education application process.
Senior students from Bursa Mustafa Kemal Paşa Private Açı College Science and Anatolian High School visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to get to know Near East University better. The students, who are in the process of choosing a university, expressed their interest in studying at Near East University and had the opportunity to see the campus environment, academic facilities, and university life firsthand.
During the visit, the students examined the university’s academic, social, and cultural facilities, and also learned about the country’s social and cultural structure. Expressing their admiration for the campus’s size, safe environment, and social opportunities, the students noted that the university offered a structure reminiscent of a small city.
The Campus is Like an Open-Air Museum
Ercan Toprak, the Deputy Principal of Bursa Mustafa Kemal Paşa Private Açı College Science and Anatolian High School, stated that they visited the campus to make more realistic decisions during the academic selection process and to see the campus environment and facilities firsthand. He added that this experience provided significant benefits for the students. Toprak said, “We provided out students with an opportunity to directly observe not only the academic structure but also the social and cultural opportunities. We saw that these areas form a strong whole throughout the campus.”
Toprak emphasized that the fact that art is a natural part of daily life on campus enhances the students’ aesthetic perspective, and that this environment contributes to the development of young people as well-rounded individuals. He continued: “I am a sculptor, I truly appreciated the value given to art. The campus is like an open-air museum. I didn’t expect to encounter such a vibrant art environment.”
A Very Safe Environment!
Students who toured the Near East University campus shared their impressions after the visit. Student Azra Çiftçi stated that the trip was important for her both culturally and academically, saying, “It was a very meaningful trip culturally. It was also a very effective trip for university life. This is very motivating.” Expressing her desire to study in the health field, Çiftçi emphasized that the Near East University Hospital offered her a significant opportunity, adding, “Having your hospital here can significantly contribute to my practical training.” Begüm Gürgünlü, who said the visit changed her perspective, stated that she hadn’t considered studying in the TRNC before, but her opinion changed after seeing the campus. Gürgünlü said, “My opinion changed after coming here; I started to look at things more positively. I felt a very safe environment.” She also expressed her admiration for the campus architecture, saying, “Everywhere on the school campus is like a museum, very impressive. Everyone is very hospitable.”
Not just a campus, but practically a city!
Halil Kanar, another student who stated that he participated in the trip primarily for cultural purposes, said that after seeing the campus, he began to reconsider his university choices. Kanar stated that he was very impressed by the art museums, the respect shown to pedestrians in traffic, and the mosque on campus, saying, “This place gives off a city athmosphere.” Metehan Ödük, on the other hand, stated that he has goals in the field of engineering and said that the size of the Near East University campus surprised him. Ödük said, “The campus is very large, I didn’t expect it to be this big.” Ödük added, “I want to advance in the field of engineering, and I think the local production efforts here inspire me in this field.”
