Medical and pharmacy students from the Czech Republic, Palestine, Finland, Lithuania, Lebanon, Hungary, North Macedonia, Egypt, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Jordan are experiencing a rich scientific and cultural internship and research experience at Near East University, where they have visited through exchange programs.
Near East University continues to host students from around the world in Northern Cyprus. The students, who come to Northern Cyprus through internship and research programs conducted by the International Pharmacy Students Federation (IPSF), the International Medical Students Association (IFMSA), and the Erasmus+ Exchange Program, have the opportunity to work with Near East University’s qualified academic staff and also practice at Near East University Hospital.
Twenty-six medical students from the Czech Republic, Palestine, Finland, Lithuania, Lebanon, Hungary, North Macedonia, Egypt, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Jordan are carrying out their summer internships at Near East University. At Near East University Hospital, students gain experience in a wide range of specialties, including orthopedics, gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, anesthesiology, and general surgery, and develop their clinical knowledge and skills.
Among the students participating in the internship and research program at Near East University this summer are pharmacy students from Poland, Serbia, and the Czech Republic. Students are carrying out research in Pharmaceutical Technology, Analytical Chemistry, and Pharmacognosy in the advanced laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Near East University, putting their theoretical knowledge into practice and receiving hands-on training in a wide range of academic fields, from drug formulations to natural product research.

Near East University Dean of Students Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz emphasized that international student exchange programs offer students significant professional and cultural benefits, saying, “Such programs create a multifaceted learning environment for students studying at our university. Students not only gain access to the most up-to-date information and practices, but also broaden their perspectives by interacting with colleagues from different countries.”
Prof. Dr. Özkum Yavuz stated that Near East University’s goal is to educate its students as qualified and well-equipped individuals on a global scale, adding, “We aim to educate future physicians and pharmacists not only as qualified healthcare professionals but also as individuals equipped with a high level of social sensitivity and an international perspective.”
