Student exchange to begin between Near East University Faculty of Medicine and medicine faculties in Turkey

Within the frame of the protocol that signed by Near East University Medical Students’ Association (NEUMSA) and Turkish Medical Students’ International Committee (TURKMSIC), students exchange concerning medical internship will be actualized between Near East University Faculty of Medicine and medicine faculties in Turkey. Within the terms and provisions set by the protocol, students receiving medical education at Near East University Faculty of Medicine will be able to do internship at various university hospitals in Turkey.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of NEU, a meeting concerning Training 4 Professional Exchange-Officers (T4PE-O) and LORE Education was hosted by 9 Eylül University Medical Students’ Committee on March 11-12, 2016 in Izmir. Gülperi Ateş, Internship Exchange Director, attended the meeting on behalf of Near East University Medical Students’ Association and signed an internship and cooperation protocol with Ömer Yasir Boz, TURKMSIC National Exchange Officer, and Gökçen Gökgöz, Domestic Exchange Coordinator. Within the terms and provisions set by the protocol, student exchange regarding medical internship will be actualized in July and August 2016 and the internship program will last four weeks.

30 students from Near East University Faculty of Medicine will be able to do internship at Turkey’s leading universities….

Within the frame of internship and cooperation protocol that signed by Near East University Medical Students’ Association and Turkish Medical Students’ International Committee, 30 students receiving medical education at NEU Faculty of Medicine will be able to do internship at various departments of university hospitals in Turkey. Uludağ University, Başkent University, Akdeniz University, Celal Bayar University, Gaziantep University, Mersin University, Osmangazi University, Pamukkale University, Trakya University and Yeditepe University are among the universities where medical students from NEU Faculty of Medicine can do internship.

Touching upon the significant role of internship programs in providing contribution to students, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ expressed his views regarding the issue. “This protocol provides unique opportunities for young doctor candidates to do internship during their summer holiday and enhance their medical knowledge and skills by getting hands-on experience in hospitals and to get an idea about the structure of health in the province that they will be working as an intern. Within the frame of the protocol, young doctor candidates from medicine faculties in Turkey will come to Near East University Hospital to do their internships as well. By virtue of this exchange program, they will be able to benefit from the possibilities of our university and get an idea about Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” said he.
