Near East University Faculty of Sports Sciences, 2021-2022 academic year spring term graduation ceremony was held at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center.

At the graduation ceremony attended by graduates and their families as well as many guests, the Latin Dance Group of the Near East University Health, Culture and Sports Department also performed a show.

The graduation event continued with speeches delivered by Near East University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Prof. Dr. Mehtap Tiryakioğlu and Boran Akif Yıkıcı on behalf of the graduate students, and presenting the diplomas to graduate students.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehtap Tiryakioğlu presented the medals and diplomas to students who were ranked as the top graduates, and then the graduates were given their diplomas by the faculty members. The ceremony ended with the cap throwing ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “Create a world where you will be truly happy and proud of yourself by breaking the mold.”
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that each graduate of the Near East University represents a different country, a different culture and a different past in the world, and said, “Each of you are here as representatives of a world that is getting smaller as it goes global. Now you are ready for a new life. But know that; life and the world will always be one step ahead of you. It is no longer your ability to access information, but your ability to analyze that information. In the era of disinformation fueled by social media, we need to learn to reach the right information, to analyze it, to criticize it, and not to listen to criticism.”

Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ addressed the graduates and said, “Create a world where you will be truly happy and proud of yourself by breaking the mold. That’s when you’ll feel like you’ve truly succeeded. I know, this is not easy at all. But try this. For yourself, for your future, for your family, for humanity… I know that each of you has this potential. Realizing this potential is in your hands, even if it is a heavy burden. I trust each of you and I am proud of you.”

Prof. Dr. Mehtap Tiryakioğlu: “The scale of success is your belief in yourself, your free will, your ethical personality.”
In her speech, reminding that the first School of Physical Education and Sports of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was established at the Near East University in 1997, and then turned into the Faculty of Sports Sciences in 2018, Prof. Dr. Mehtap Tiryakioğlu emphasized that they train physical education and sports teachers, coaches, sports managers and recreation leaders with their competent staff.

Addressing the graduates, Prof. Dr. Tiryakioğlu said, “Near East University and Faculty of Sports Sciences are your permanent home. We will always be proud of your achievements.” Prof. Dr. Tiryakioğlu said, “The scale of success is your belief in yourself, your free will, and your ethical personality. The scale of success is love and respect; respectable communication skills are your sensitivity to your environment. The scale of success is to carry human values, to be able to empathize. Success is being able to face the toughest conditions and not giving up on your goals no matter what they are or how tough they are. I believe that each of you are individuals with these characteristics, I trust you. Your profession is entrusted to you within the framework of ethical rules and Atatürk’s principles. I have no doubt that you will do your job in the best way by staying in a line worthy of the Near East University. It always makes us happy to hear about your successes and to be aware of them. I embrace each of you with love and wish you an enlightened and successful journey.

Boran Akif Yıkıcı: “We are aware of how heavy our responsibilities are when we graduate.”
Speaking on behalf of the graduates of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Boran Akif Yıkıcı said, “As we graduate from here, we are aware of how heavy our responsibilities are. When we started our teaching duty, we will set a good example for our children and youth, who are entrusted to us and who are the future of our country, and we will raise them as individuals who are committed to their national and spiritual values ​​and who catch up with the era.”

Stating that he started his higher education life by enrolling at the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, Boran Akif Yıkıcı said, “Sports has always been the focus of my life for me since childhood. That’s why I really like sport and my desire to it outweighed in my choice of profession. I transfered to the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching in order to follow my heart and guide many children. If I am graduating from here today with important equipment and skills, it is because I have studies at the department I wanted most. I congratulate all my friends who managed to graduate with me today. May the path be clear to all of us.”
