Solutions to Global Problems from Diplomats of Future: “NEUMUN 2026” Returns to Near East University for the Second Time!

NEUMUN 2026, the most comprehensive Model United Nations event at the university level in the TRNC, will bring together young people from different cultures on May 9th, offering them the opportunity to discuss and find solutions to global issues such as nuclear armament, external debt, and humanitarian aid.

Near East University, ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, continues to equip its students not only with academic knowledge but also with global awareness, diplomacy, and leadership skills. In this context, the Model United Nations Conference “NEUMUN 2026,” organized for the second time by the Near East Institute, will be held on May 9th at the Irfan Günsel Congress Center of Near East University.

“NEUMUN 2026,” which is the most comprehensive Model United Nations organization held at the university level in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will invite students to think, discuss, and find solutions to global issues. The participants will develop solutions to the most important problems of today’s world and prepare draft resolutions in committees to be formed under the headings of “Nuclear Armament”, “Developing Countries and External Debt”, and “Humanitarian Aid in Conflict Zones” .

Participants from Diverse Cultures Will Meet at the Same Table!

NEUMUN 2026 will go beyond being just an academic simulation, offering an important platform that brings together young people from different cultures and strengthens intercultural interaction. Through international discussions, participants will have the opportunity to develop critical thinking, effective communication, and persuasion skills.

The conference, consisting of three main committees; the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM), will involve participants representing pre-determined countries, acting almost like United Nations delegates in the sessions. In this process, they will experience speaking the language of diplomacy, conducting negotiations, and producing joint decisions. Emphasizing that NEUMUN offers an important learning and development platform for young people, the Director of the Near East Institute, Assoc.
