The solo painting exhibitions consisting of 22 artworks of Azerbaijani painting artists İlham Enveroğlu and 12 artworks of Assim Resuloğlu, all exclusively made for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, was opened by Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu, Minister of Labour and Social Security.

According to the press information provided by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the opening of the solo painting exhibitions consisting of a total of 34 works by Assim Resuloğlu and İlham Enveroğlu was held at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Dentistry, Near East University, with participation of the Minister of Labor and Social Security Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu , Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat Günsel, Vice Rector, Director of the Institute, lecturers, artists and invited guests. At the opening of the exhibition, Vice Rector of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Azerbaijani artists Assim Resuloglu and İlham Enveroglu and Minister of Labor and Social Security Dr. Faiz Sucuoglu each gave a speech.

In his opening remarks, NEU Vice Rector Professor Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that Cyprus Museum of Arts, the foundations of which were laid on 9 August 2018, had been designed to house halls equipped with first-end infrastructure enabling the exhibition of all works regarding classical, traditional and modern art. “The museum, which will open its doors on 15 November 2020, will be the largest modern art museum of the Near East geography. It will be an important museum addressing the international platform and the essence of our country and fulfilling the selection, collection, preservation and exhibition functions. The museum collection will consist of works that will best represent their country in the context of art history “said he.

The number of exhibitions realized with almost a thousand of artists from abroad reached 147, and the number of artworks reached 15 thousand
Highlighting the significant role of art in contributing to the social and cultural development of the society in local and global scale, Professor Şanlıdağ stated that more than 120 workshops were realized and almost 15 thousand of artworks were created within the last 11 months. “A total of around 4000 artists, almost 1000 of whom were from abroad, have participated in the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts Project so far. This number is increasing day by day. As the Near East family, we would like to express our cordial gratitude to all of our artists for their unique contributions to the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts” said he.

Underlining that Near East University adopts quality and innovation in all domains of education, science, health, culture and art, vice Rector Professor Şanlıdağ stated that they had been continuing to strengthen their scientific programs by enhancing the academic staff with internationally renowned scientists. “3 research-group leaders that involved in Cern Project have recently joined our academic staff. For the first time, a faculty member from our university was entitled to participate in CERN Project. He will start work within the scope of BAP support next week” noted he.

Underlining the crucial role of research and exchange programs in providing academic staff and students with an opportunity to gain educational and training experience abroad, NEU Vice Rector Professor Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that they had realized internship and exchange programs with many universities across the world within the scope of Erasmus Exchange Program.

“NEU Faculty of Medicine has been included in Erasmus Exchange Program that initiated in the previous academic year. As of yesterday, one of the students studying at NEU Faculty of Medicine received approval from the Faculty of Medicine of Zagreb University in Croatia within the scope of Erasmus Exchange Program. As of yesterday, a faculty member lecturing at University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna was approved to come to Near East University within the scope of Erasmus Academic Staff Mobility Program” said he.

Highlighting Near East University’s commitment to continuing to work for the benefit of her country and people, vice Rector Professor Şanlıdağ stated that the university would continue to work and produce on the axis of science, technology and innovation in order to achieve the targets that determined. “This qualitative factor constitutes the core of the Near Eastern culture that we have created and is also a source of inspiration. What we have accomplished so far is the realistic estimation and assurance of what we will achieve in line with our goals. Consequently, it shouldn’t be forgotten that locally our society and globally the civilization will gain from the science, innovation and technology to be generated by the universities. We realize this long and arduous journey with the support and guidance of each member of Günsel family” noted he.

Assim Resuloğlu; "I am aware that I have an important mission to represent Azerbaijani art and artists of Azerbaijan."
Assim Resuloğlu, one of the Azerbaijani artists, started his speech by saying "I am honored to be in such an event of the two brother Turkic states. I am aware that I have an important mission to represent Azerbaijani art and Azerbaijani artists here. I would like to thank Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel and the Near East family for giving us this opportunity."

İlham Enveroğlu; "I have not heard of a formation called Art Mobilization anywhere in the world. That is what's happenning here!"
Artist İlham Enveroğlu; "Today I am honored to be here for the third time. I have not heard, I have not seen, or I have not read of a formation called art mobilization anywhere in the world. This is what's happenning here! While politicians are dealing with various problems, thanks to Suat Günsel, such an art mobilization has started in the Turkish Union and among its artists.

Everyone can be proud of having the opportunity to be a part of this World-Wide formation. Art does not recognize obstacles…! No any great power can interfere with art even by using its nuclear weapons and intercontinental missiles. That's the proof of this! Cyprus Museum of Modern Art. "

Minister Sucuoğlu; "May God help to our soldiers in the Peace Spring Operation'...
Minister of Labor and Social Security Faiz Sucuoğlu started his words by saying "Today, in fact, we live a very meaningful day. Our motherland Turkey's Army, the Turkish Armed Forces launched an operation against terrorist organizations constituting a threat to the boundaries of our motherland. May God be with our soldiers throughout the Peace Fountain Operation, and let's wish them every success".

Minister Sucuoğlu said "Artists from Azerbaijan are the cornerstone of the brotherhood and relationship of the reality of one nation forming three states. When we look at the essence of the work, culture, and art always play a very important role in the development of a country, in a way that countries act together and make new discoveries. People who value culture and art are always successful. One of the most important examples of these is Azerbaijan. We are aware of the importance given to art and culture in Azerbaijan. We are experiencing a change in art and culture especially under the leadership of Near East University in the last year. In fact, the openings of these exhibitions, of which thousands of artists from Turkic republics participated and their works exhibited, are to some extent important steps of the Union of Turkic Republics. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Near East Family because these steps are the first starting point for a change in the Turkic republics. On this route, Near East University has undertaken a major mission. I wish them every success on this route.

Artists presented Silver Key Honor Award, exhibition ribbons cut
After the speeches, Minister of Labor and Social Security Dr. Faiz Sucuoğlu presented the Silver Key Honor Award and the certificates of appreciation to Azerbaijani artists Assim Resuloğlu and İlham Resuloğlu. Then, the exhibition ribbons were cut and the exhibitions were visited. The exhibition can be visited at the Near East University Dentistry Exhibition Hall between 08.00-16.00 on weekdays until 20 October 2019.
