Within the scope of the “Periodic Conferences” series organized by the Near East University DESAM Research Institute, the first conference of 2024 will be held on Friday, February 23, by sociologist and writer Prof. Dr. Besim Dellaloğlu. The conference, where the subject of “Studying Society: Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology and Cultural Studies” will be discussed, will be open to all professional organizations, non-governmental organizations, the press and the public. The conference, which will start at 10.30, will also be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of Near East University.

The “Periodic Conferences” series carried out by the Near East University DESAM Research Institute hosted important scientists in 2023. One of Turkey’s reputed geologists, Prof. Dr. While Candan Gökçeoğlu spoke on “Turkey’s Earthquakes and the Seismicity of the Eastern Mediterranean”, Prof. Dr. Sühendan Ekmekçioğlu from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center spoke on the “Immune Therapy”, one of the innovative methods used in cancer treatment. Dr. Ahmet Çağlar Özketen was the guest with his presentation titled “mRNA Technology and Vaccines on the road to Nobel”, while Prof. Dr. Haydar Demirel from Hacettepe University Faculty of Sports Sciences discussed the topic “Physical Inactivity: Molecular Stones of the Road to Diabetes”. In another conference held in 2023, Prof. Dr. Mariusz P. Kowalewski from the University of Zurich reviewed “Canine Placental Function-Current Developments and Perspectives on Understanding Endocrine Regulations of Canine Pregnancy.”

Who is Prof. Dr. Besim Dellaloğlu, who was the speaker at the first conference of 2024?
Prof. Dr. Besim Dellaloğlu, who is one of Turkey’s important sociologists and also an author, after graduating from Boğaziçi University, Department of Political Science and International Relations, completed his doctorate in Sociology at Mimar Sinan University. Prof. Dr. Dellaloğlu also worked as a French tourist guide for a long time during his undergraduate and graduate education. After completing his doctorate, Dellaloğlu conducted various research and gave lectures at many universities abroad. Prof. Dr. Dellaloğlu also lectured at Mimar Sinan, Marmara, İstanbul Bilgi, Yıldız Teknik, Galatasaray, Kırklareli, İstanbul and Sakarya universities in Turkey, and has many published books.
