
The Near East University Faculty of Agriculture and the National Citrus Council will collaborate to conduct scientific research, innovative practices, and producer training on citrus production.
The Turkish National Citrus Council (UTK), which aims to develop scientific collaborations to increase productivity and quality, visited Near East University. During the visit, important collaboration decisions were made with the Near East University Faculty of Agriculture regarding scientific studies and joint projects in citrus production and cultivation.
A delegation consisting of UTK President Kemal Kaçmaz, Mediterranean Citrus Producers Association President Ahmet Hastürk, Cyprus Turkish Citrus Exporters Association President Fethi Bardakçıoğlu, Interfresh EuroAsia General Manager Murat Özer, and Cypfruvex Turkey Manager Mevlüt Sezer visited Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel.

Collaborations will be expanded and continued.
Following the meetings, it was decided to take steps to develop scientifically based collaborations in the citrus sector, implement joint projects, and increase knowledge sharing. During the meeting, an agreement was reached to collaborate with the Near East University Faculty of Agriculture in areas such as the use of advanced agricultural technologies in citrus production, R&D studies, sustainable production models, and farmer training activities. At the end of the visit, Kemal Kaçmaz, President of the National Citrus Council, presented a plaque to Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel.
The delegation visited the university to develop scientific collaborations with Near East University in citrus production and cultivation. They also invited the university to the Interfresh EuroAsia Agriculture and Food Fair, to be held in Izmir from September 18-20, 2025. Prof. Dr. Özge Özden, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Near East University, stated that they would participate in the fair in Izmir.
