Near East University and Yıldız Technical University have signed a cooperation protocol covering the fields of science, technology and entrepreneurship.

Near East University and Yıldız Technical University, two long-standing institutions of Turkish higher education, have signed an academic cooperation protocol. The protocol signed by Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Yıldız Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik aims to develop academic cooperation between two universities, conduct joint research projects and create student and academician exchange programs.

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz, in charge of Yıldız Technical University Research and Planning Department, Yıldız Teknopark Corporate Communications Manager Naim Güleç and Yıldız Technology Transfer Office General Manager Dr. Selim Serkan Say were also present at the signing ceremony hosted by Near East University.

Aimed to join forces in the fields of science, technology and entrepreneurship

The cooperation protocol signed between the two universities also aims to create common platforms in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology transfer. In addition, within the scope of the protocol, joint seminars, workshops and academic publication studies in different disciplines ranging from engineering to social sciences will be encouraged.

While it is planned to increase internship and application opportunities for students, joint projects will be implemented through the entrepreneurship and technology development centers of universities. In addition, developing an interdisciplinary work culture among academics and increasing the research and development capacity are among the main goals of the cooperation.

The scientific power of Turkey and the TRNC is uniting!

Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “We believe that the basis of scientific development and technological progress lies in the culture of cooperation. We regard this protocol we signed with Yıldız Technical University extremely precious.” Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ also said, “The scientific bridges to be established between the two universities cover a very wide area from joint research projects to student and academician exchanges, from strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem to technology transfer. Such cooperation will increase not only our institutions but also our country’s scientific production capacity.”

Yıldız Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik drew attention to the strong ties with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and said, “We are very pleased to establish a new bridge in the academic field with our sister country, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This cooperation with the Near East University means the unification of the scientific power of both universities as well as Turkey and the TRNC. The joint projects that our students and academics will carry out within this framework will carry both our universities and our countries further.”
