Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education Department of Geography Teaching hosted the Academic Members and Students of the Royal Holloway University of London; who have carried out spatial analysis and research on the island.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Academic Members and Students of the Royal Holloway University of London Department of Geography were hosted by the Head of Department of Geography of Atatürk Faculty of Education of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şeniz Şensoy and Academic Member, Specialist Abdusselam Tanışman. It was pointed out that this was regarded as a great opportunity for the Academicians and students from different universities to come together.


Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici provided information regarding the educational vision of Near East University and its contribution to the developing economy of the country...
Accompanied by Dr. Alasdair Pinkerton, Dr.Innes Keighren and Research Assistant Flora Parrott, the visiting students of 10 people were hosted by the Dean of Atatürk Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Mirici. During the visit, Prof. Dr. Mirici informed the visitors about the educational vision of Near East University and its contribution to the developing economy of the country. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Mirici provided details on the education provided and added that the Departments of Geography of both universities could jointly work together to make positive contributions to science.

Guest students were provided detailed information regarding political geography, the political issues and probable solutions for the island of Cyprus...
The visitors were later provide the chance to ask questions on issues of interest regarding the Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education. Then the visiting committee was accompanied by the Academic Member of the Department of Geography Teaching Specialist Abdusselam Tanışman as they visited the NEU Department of Geography. Abdusselam Tanışman provided them information about the Department, the courses offered and research conducted in the relative field. Moreover, they were provided information on political geography of the island of Cyprus and issues throughout history to date. In fact they were also provided information regarding the current matter of hydrocarbon resources near the island and how this matter affected the Cyprus issue. As a geopolitical specialist, Dr. Alasdair Pinkerton provided information and his views on the hydrocarbon resources of Cyprus and the geopolitical position of Cyprus.

Finally, the visiting committee found an opportunity to visit the Near East University Grand Library where they took a photograph of remembrance stating how impressed they were of the library. It was pointed out that fellowship among students and academicians of same departments of different universities was necessary and pathways for future cooperation to make contribution to science. Academicians and students from both universities expressed wishes to get together once again in the near future...
