During the visit, Near East University Board of Trustees Chairman Associate Professor İrfan Günsel and the accompanying team provided the National Education Minister Cemal Özyiğit with information regarding the path leading to success of the robotic soccer team which was mechanically and electronically designed and created in the Near East University 3D Laboratory by Near East University R&D team that developed 100% of the artificial intelligence coding. During the visit, it was also underlined that Near East University's 2050 mission was to field a robotic soccer team for a friendly game against FIBA Human World Cup Champion.

Minister Cemal Özyiğit: "Near East University with its progressive vision has become RoboCup 2018 World Cup Champion and brought the Cup to Our Country. I appreciate this victory"
In his remarks, National Education Minister Cemal Özyiğit congratulated Near East University by underlining the significance of creating a robotic soccer team in R&D laboratories of NEU Innovation center and winning RoboCup 2018 that held in Montreal, Canada. "Congrats to Near East University and to all members of R&D team of the Innovation Center. Winning the World Cup and bringing it to our country is pride. I appreciate Near East University Family in recognition of providing all these possibilities to the robotic soccer team with a progressive vision grounded on present and future accomplishments. On behalf of myself and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, I extend my thanks to those who contributed to this event. I would like to come on a training day and watch the performances of the robots on site” said he.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel: "Let our World Championship e a gift to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus"
In his remarks, Near East University Board of Trustees Chairman Associate Professor İrfan Günsel expressed their pride of becoming the champ of RoboCup 2018 that held in Montreal, Canada. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Günsel highlighted that the world championship of the robotic soccer team of Near East University was one of the best examples of actualizing Near East University's vision of taking place amongst the third generation universities. "Without conceding a goal, we have become the undefeated world champ in Robotic Soccer Championship in Canada. Congrats to our team and robots. We feel the happiness and pride of presenting this world championship as a gift to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Each new day, we are realizing new breakthroughs in our robotic works reflecting our university's vision of being a third Generation University and we are progressing towards future with concrete steps. The main point here is the visionary work that we exhibited in the field of technology showing where we stand now in international arena rather than the score superiority that our robotic soccer team achieved against the other teams.

Our winning the Robotic Soccer Championship is a clear indicator that Near East University can compete with the world giants in the field of technology. This propels our enthusiasm for sustaining our innovative works in this field and it also demonstrates once again what Turkish Cypriots are capable to achieve when provided with opportunity” said he.

Soccer Robots of NEUIslanders and Their Artificial Intelligence have been created in Near East University Research Laboratories...
Near East University Robotic Soccer Team Captain Ersin Aytaç provided the National Education Minister Cemal Özyiğit with technical information about the robots: "100% of mechanical and electronic designs and artificial intelligence of NEUIslanders, which consists of 8 robots, have been created and developed by R&D team in the research laboratories of Near East University. Shortly, 100% of NEUIslanders is the own production of Near East University. Each of the football robots was hand-crafted with a special technology. Robots are managed by a three-dimensional coordination and communication system. This year, electrical and electronics engineers and computer engineers worked together and produced a more offensive robotic soccer team by writing the team's artificial intelligence from scratch" noted he.
