Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören will represent Turkey at ESFRI

Head of Near East University Technology Transfer Office Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören will represent Turkey at the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures with the assignment of the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK.

Turkey will be represented by the Head of the Near East University Technology Transfer Office (NERITA) Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören in the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) 2026 process, which aims for the effective use and development of research infrastructures in Europe.

Prof. Dr. Özgören will participate in the “Future of ESFRI Workshop” to be held in Brno, Czech Republic on March 31 – April 1, and the “91st ESFRI Forum” to be held on April 2, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK.

Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören, who will present Turkey’s ESFRI 2026 Roadmap proposals, will hold talks to increase scientific collaborations and establish strategic partnerships to strengthen Turkey’s integration into the European Research Area.


International collaborations will be established in the fields of energy, medicine, artificial intelligence and cultural heritage

ESFRI is an organization established in 2002 in order to strengthen Europe’s scientific integration, ensure strategic management of research infrastructures and create sustainable scientific ecosystems. ESFRI, consisting of delegates appointed by the research ministers of member and partner countries and representatives of the European Commission, contributes to the strengthening of the European Research Area (ERA) and pioneers the establishment of innovative research infrastructures that support scientific excellence. Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören, Head of the Technology Transfer Office of Near East University, also represents Turkey in this important organization with the assignment of the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK.

ESFRI, which establishes innovative infrastructures in critical areas such as biotechnology and health, also carries out important projects in various disciplines such as physics, engineering, environment and climate change. ESFRI aims to strengthen the research ecosystem by supporting international collaborations in areas such as energy, medicine, artificial intelligence and cultural heritage.

Emphasizing that he would be honored to represent Turkey at ESFRI, one of the most important formations that develops Europe’s scientific infrastructure within a strategic framework and directs the global scientific ecosystem, Near East University Technology Transfer Office Head Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören said, “Turkey’s active role in this process is a great opportunity to strengthen our scientific integration and integrate our research infrastructures with Europe.” Prof. Dr. Özgören emphasized that the duty he undertook to represent Turkey at the European Strategy Forum Research Infrastructures will also yield important results in terms of the recognition of Northern Cyprus’ scientific and technological capacity at the international level and the increase of academic collaborations.
