According to the statements made by the Near East University Hospital, Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Head Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer and Near East University Microbiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Plasma Treatment, which is an alternative treatment method for Covid-19, is also accepted by the World Health Organization and is shown as the best alternative among the current treatment methods. Plasma Treatment, Ready for application at the Near East University Hospital, was implemented in cooperation with TRNC Ministry of Health and Near East University.

Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer; “The most effective COVID-19 Treatment Method in the World has become applicable on our island.”
Noting that the Convelasan Plasma Method was defined as one of the treatment methods of Covid-19 by the World Health Organization on March 24, 2020, Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer stated that the treatment was conducted by removing the part called plasma by apheresis method from the blood sample taken from a person who had a Covid-19 disease and recovered, and giving the separated plasma to Covid-19 patient for treatment. Stating that the necessary infrastructure preparations for Convelasan Plasma Treatment, carried out in cooperation with the TRNC Ministry of Health and the Near East University, have been completed. Prof. Dr. H. Kaya Süer said that Plasma Treatment, which is one of the treatment methods in the world, has become applicable on our island.

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ; “Near East University has presented all its facilities to the service of the country.”
Near East University Microbiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ stated that Near East University has been fighting with the Covid-19 outbreak with its health services as well as scientific and innovative studies carried out since the beginning of outbreak. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said that they offered all the facilities of Near East University to the service of the country.

Regarding the services provided by the Near East University from the first day of the epidemic, Şanlıdağ said “During this process, our academics and researchers have made many innovative initiatives to protect our healthcare professionals and patients while conducting research to shed light on the subject. The production of face shields, additional materials created in 3D laboratories to increase the capacity of the respiratory device, as well as the production of alternative respirators are studies conducted in this regard."

Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said that the university hospitals continue to provide services to patients in the treatment of diseases other than the epidemic with full capacity. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ; “Plasma Therapy, which has been put into practice in some countries, stands before us as a good alternative in current treatment methods.”

Regarding the Plasma Treatment Project carried out in cooperation between the TRNC Ministry of Health and Near East University, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ continued as follows; “As a result of the researchers' work, all available coronavirus treatment methods are currently in discussion. Although there is no specific treatment against the virus, alternative treatment methods are tried and applied, while some give successful results, however, results of some others are still discussed. On the other hand, plasma treatment, which we see in some countries and of which studies carried out by our researchers, stands before us as a good alternative among the current treatment methods."
