Artist and academician Assist. Prof. Dr. Mine Okur’s Print Painting Exhibition consisting of 18 works exclusively prepared by Mine Okur for the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts was opened at Dr.Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School.

Inaugurated on April 26 with a magnificent ceremony attended by President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Ersan Saner, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia College aims to host activities that will strengthen the culture and art environment in Kyrenia, as well as opening the doors of a world-class education for the children of the region with its physical characteristics and competent academic staff. The Print Painting Exhibition consisting of 18 artworks opened at the Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School Exhibition Hall has a special place as it is the first of these events.

Modern miniatures
Near East University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Faculty Member Assist. Prof. Dr. Mine Okur in her works exhibited, interprets the beings around her by being influenced by the stylization and fictional logic of miniature art. Assist. Prof. Dr. Okur describes the images he shapes with the effect of her graphic design education and with an understanding of her own inner world. Artist Mine Okur describes the process of making her works on mythological stories as follows; “The first stage of the works is the hand drawings that I make imaginatively. I transfer the world I created in black and white at the computer environment and color it there. Afterwards, I conclude my studies that I completed in digital environment with the screen printing technique by utilizing the opportunities my university offers me.” Stating that she tries to preserve the difference of childlike understanding in her works, Okur said, “Children’s imagination has always impressed me a lot. Therefore, the opening of my print painting exhibition at the Dr. Suat Günsel Primary School was also a source of honor for me.”

Who is Mine Okur?
He was born on October 24, 1970 in Ankara. She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Ankara. She graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphics in 1994. She worked as a graphic designer in the fields of information technologies and multimedia at Sebit and Mobilsoft institutions. She worked as the design coordinator at the Near East University Innovation Center in 2007. She worked as a full-time lecturer at the Near East University, Faculty of Communication, Visual Communication and Design Department until 2013. She received her PhD in 2017 with her thesis on “Cyprus Themed Video Game Design”. She still continues her studies as a lecturer at Near East University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Graphic Design Department.
