After the test drive and information meeting, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Founding Rector of the Near East Enterprises Dr. Suat Günsel and the Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees and GÜNSEL Chairman of the Executive Board Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel commented on the ongoing process.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel: “As the government, we will provide every support and ensure that GÜNSEL, which the Near East University has developed with its own means, opens to the world.”

Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ünal Üstel, who visited the GÜNSEL production facilities on the Near East University campus, accompanied by the ministers, took a test drive and received information about the mass production activities, said, “I consider this day to be a day of good luck and pride. GÜNSEL is a very important project that shows where we have come from, what we went through before 1974. We will bring a work of which we are proud to the world markets. What painful days we had before 1974. Today, we are crowning our freedom, which we gained with the support of our motherland Turkey, with a project like GÜNSEL. That's why today is our proud day."

Emphasizing that the TRNC economy will undergo an important transformation with the export revenue to be provided by GÜNSEL's production, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said, “If there is no production in the country, we cannot prove ourselves to the world. The pandemic period once again showed how fragile the economies of non-producing countries are. As the government, we will provide every support and ensure that GÜNSEL, which the Near East University has developed with its own means, opens to the world. That's why we're here with all my teammates."

Stating that he also liked the driving comfort and performance of the GÜNSEL B9, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said, "Hopefully, we will turn all office vehicles into GÜNSEL in the future." Prime Minister Üstel also said, “I would also like to thank the entire team of designers and engineers, especially Dr. Suat Günsel and Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, the persons who brought this project to life. Our future will be much better”.

Dr. Suat Günsel: “The determination that enabled us to bring GÜNSEL into life on these lands for the benefit of our country takes its source from our state and our people's adoption of GÜNSEL."

Emphasizing that GÜNSEL originally belongs to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot people, Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel said, “The most important step to be taken for GÜNSEL, which will carry our country to the future, is the adoption of this project by our state and our people.” Dr. Suat GÜNSEL also said, “Two-thirds of the value created by the electric car consists of software and battery technology. We have developed these technological parts with our own engineers and designers. With the increase in production numbers, many of our suppliers will come to our country and make investments. In addition, our local entrepreneurs who will invest in this field will also turn into industrialists. That is why GÜNSEL is domestic and national.”

Emphasizing that last week President Ersin Tatar and this week Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and the Council of Ministers came to GÜNSEL and showed that they support this project that will carry the country to the future. Suat Günsel said, “The determination that will enable us to realize this value for the benefit of our country in these lands takes its source from our state and our people's adoption of GÜNSEL. We want to take root in these lands and we are working hard to make the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people in these lands permanent.”

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: "The year 2029 will be the turning point of our country's economy, with the increase in the production numbers of our GÜNSEL, which we will put into mass production within 18 months."

Making a detailed presentation to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and the Council of Ministers on the preparations for mass production of the TRNC's national car, GÜNSEL, its future projections and its contribution to the country's economy, Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees and GÜNSEL Chairman of the Executive Board Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel shared his production and income projections and said, “The year 2029 will be the turning point of our country's economy with the increase in the production numbers of our GÜNSEL, which we will put into mass production within 18 months. Our country, which has a foreign trade deficit of approximately 1.4 billion dollars every year between 2015 and 2020, will reach the position of a country with a foreign trade surplus for the first time in 2029, with the export income to be generated by GÜNSEL."

Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel stating that they have been carrying out projects on engineering, software, prototyping and battery technologies with a team consisting of more than 300 people who developed the first two models of GÜNSEL, B9 and J9, said, “This means that our Northern Cyprus is now developing projects in high-tech fields for the giants of the world.”
