Presidents of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Sports Federations Tested TRNC’s Domestic and National Automobile GÜNSEL

The presidents and representatives of Basketball, Volleyball, Archery, Table Tennis, Football Tennis, Gymnastics, Kick Boxing, Weightlifting and Body Building, Badminton, Hunting, Taekwondo Judo Karate Aikido Hapkido Wushu Muaythai and Disabled Sports Federations, tested the TRNC's national and domestic automobile GÜNSEL.

Today, before the test drive held in the driving area of GÜNSEL Production Facilities at the Near East University campus, the federation president and representatives visited the GÜNSEL Office Museum and examined the objects included in the Museum. They also visited GÜNSEL Production Facilities and received information about the production process of the vehicle. Afterwards, the federation presidents, who carried out the test drive, made comments about GÜNSEL's performance and their feelings.

Saying that he used the vehicle very quickly, Basketball Federation President Orhan Mevlit said, “It was very enjoyable, I used a comfortable and well-designed vehicle. I was very impressed that it can accelerate like a sports car." Defining GÜNSEL as a great pride for our country, Taekwondo Judo Karate Aikido Hapkido Wushu Muaythai Financial Secretary Master Öykü Ergin said that she was impressed by GÜNSEL's quiet, vibration-free and comfortable ride.

Defining GÜNSEL's performance as excellent, Mustafa Bekiroğulları, President of the Northern Cyprus Table Tennis Federation, said that the fuel savings that GÜNSEL will provide as an environmentally friendly vehicle will provide a very important economic gain for both the individuals and the country.

Stating that he was very impressed by the realization of such a project in Northern Cyprus, the President of the Badminton Federation Fırat Deniz said that it is a source of pride to become a country that can produce such technology.

Stating that the vehicle has a very comfortable interior design although it looks small from the outside, Ruhsar Vudalı, President of the Sports Federation for the Disabled, expressed that he liked the interior and exterior design of GÜNSEL very much.

After the test drive, Mustafa Bekiroğulları, President of the Northern Cyprus Table Tennis Federation, on behalf of all federation presidents, presented a plaque to Yalvaç Akgün, Member of the Günsel Board of Directors, to be delivered to Near East University Board of Trustees President Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel

GÜNSEL B9 is a 100 percent electric car. The vehicle, which can travel 350 kilometers on a single charge, was produced by combining 10 thousand 936 parts in total. The engine of the vehicle has a power of 140 kW. The speed limit of GÜNSEL B9, which can reach 100 km / h in 8 seconds, was electronically limited to 170 km / h. The battery of GÜNSEL B9 can be charged in just 30 minutes with high-speed charging. In the case of fast charging, this time is 4 hours. The number of employees of GÜNSEL, where more than 100 engineers and designers spent 1.2 million hours in the development process, reached 166. This number, which will increase rapidly with the start of mass production, will rise to over a thousand by 2025.

Agreements with over 800 suppliers from 28 countries have been signed for the production of GÜNSEL B9. GÜNSEL Thus, have provided a significant contribution to TRNC to become a part of the global economy.

The second model of GÜNSEL, J9, will be produced in the SUV segment. The design concept of the J9, which was also designed as 100% electric, was also presented to the visitors at MUSIAD Expo 2020.

Electric cars are increasing their weight in the world automotive market every year. In 2018, the number of electric cars sold in the world was 2 million. Electric car sales, which are expected to reach 10 million by 2025, are expected to reach 28 million by 2030 and 56 million by 2040. Electric cars will take over 57 percent of the automotive market by 2040.
