Presented the Future of Artificial and Natural Meat, Secured Second Place of Turkey

Students from Near East University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine achieved second place in Turkey at the “Vetchange Compass Camp”, which saw participation from across Turkey, with their presentation on “The Future of Artificial and Natural Meat.”

Students from Near East University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which is among the top 500 universities in the world, achieved a significant success by securing second place in the “Vetchange Compass Camp”, attended by veterinary medicine candidates selected from hundreds of applications across Turkey.

The “Vetchange Compass Camp”, organized to support the professional development of young veterinary medicine candidates, was held in Kilyos, Istanbul. Bringing together 80 veterinary medicine candidates selected from applications across Turkey, the camp included trainings and various activities on the future of veterinary medicine, innovations in the sector, and professional development.

Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine students Burak Küçük, Muaz Emir Çavdaroğlu, and Demir Tunalı, along with Vetchange Near East University faculty representative Efe Can Ünlü, attracted the attention of the jury and participants with their presentation titled “The Future of Artificial and Natural Meat”, prepared within the scope of the camp. The presentation addressed sustainable food production, the effects of the increasing world population on nutritional systems, and future nutritional approaches, offering assessments on the future of artificial and natural meat production. At the end of the camp, the Near East University team finished the “Vetchange Compass Camp” in second place with their successful performance, in line with the jury evaluation.

The Dean of the Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. İsfendiyar Darbaz, emphasized that veterinary medicine today is directly related to many areas beyond animal health, such as food safety, sustainable production, and public health. Prof. Dr. İsfendiyar Darbaz said, “Our students achieving second place with their presentation on a current and multidisciplinary topic such as the future of artificial and natural meat demonstrates not only their professional knowledge but also their critical thinking and foresight skills.”

Expressing that such organizations make significant contributions to students’ academic development, Prof. Dr. Darbaz said, “The veterinary profession requires closely following the constantly changing and developing global dynamics. It is extremely beneficial for our students to share knowledge and experience with prospective colleagues from different universities on national platforms, as this contributes to the development of their professional vision.” Congratulating his students on their success, Prof. Darbaz added, “I wholeheartedly congratulate our students.
