“Painting and Printmaking Artists’ Exhibition”, Which Features 50 Works of Art of 7 Academician Artists from Turkey, Was Opened by Dursun Oğuz, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Consisting of 50 pieces of artworks that exclusively prepared for Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts by a group of 7 artists including academicians and printmaking artists from Turkey, the "Painting and Printmaking Artists' Exhibition" was opened by Dursun Oğuz, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University released that the "Painting and Printmaking Artists' Exhibition" was held at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Medicine of Near East University. Dursun Oğuz, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel, the Founding Rector of Near East University, vice rectors, deans, faculty members, artists and guests participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The opening remarks of the exhibition were respectively delivered by Near East University vice Rector Professor Tamer Şanlıdağ, Associate Professor Nevin Yavuz, the Head of the Department of Painting of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Akdeniz University, and Dursun Oğuz, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

In his opening remarks, NEU vice Rector Professor Tamer Şanlıdağ expressed his pleasure of coming together for the opening a distinguished exhibition featuring 50 works of art exclusively prepared for Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts by 7 artists consisting of academicians and printmaking artists from Turkey.

Stating that artists from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan and from other central Asian Turkic countries and communities opened exhibitions at Near East University in the last 8 months, Professor Şanlıdağ underlined the significant role of these exhibitions in reflecting the artistic heritage, realism and the mysticism of Central Asia and the discovery of our invisible world. Expressing that the seventh of Near East University Printmaking Artist Residence was realized, Professor Şanlıdağ stated that the main purpose of the program was to play host for artists from Turkic world and provide them with opportunity to work in workshops and studios to create distinguished works for the collection of Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts which will open its doors for visits on 15 November, 2020. "We opened more than 50 exhibitions on the campus within the last 8 months. 9 exhibitions are currently available at the exhibition halls of Near East University. We aim at 20 thousand of works of art for the collection inventory of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts" noted he.

A total of 7 Museums have been scheduled to be opened within the campus of Near East University...
"As Near East University, we have adopted an innovative education concept in visual arts, plastic arts, design, history, culture and nature. In this framework, the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts Museum, Cyprus Natural History Museum, Cyprus Car Museum, Cyprus Turkish National History Museum, Maritime Museum, Herbarium Museum and Knife and Sword Museum have been or will be brought into a being on the campus of the university so far" noted he.

Expressing that the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts would be the first and only museum reflecting solely Turkic art and culture, Professor Şanlıdağ stated that the museum had the mission of building a bridge connecting the country's arts and culture with the arts and culture of Turkic world.

Professor Şanlıdağ ended his remarks by underlining that Near East University, which adopts the 4th generation university model and aims at taking place amongst the top 500 prestigious universities of the world, has transformed all scientific data acquired through academic studies and research and development activities into the benefit of society.

Minister Oğuz: “In all domains of education and art, Near East University has a philosophy of life that goes beyond itself..."
In his opening remarks, Dursun Oğuz, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, underlines that Near East University, which creates awareness in university education with an outstanding world vision, has a life philosophy going beyond herself in all domains of education and art.

Underlining that establishing museums is an arduous process, Minister Oğuz states that Near East University's attempts towards establishing museums, where the Turkic art and culture, Turkish Cypriot people's national history, endemic flora and fauna of Cyprus and other natural beauties come alive, are praiseworthy. “It seems that Near East University has undertaken a leading role in creating awareness and opening new horizons for our country. I look forward to see what breakthroughs will come up next” said he.

Expressing that the country had been experiencing a boost in the field of art lately, Minister Oğuz drew attention to crucial role of the Founding Rector Suat Günsel, who has set goals considering the coming 50 years, in adding color and vividness to the social life. This is a clear indication of the importance that Dr. Suat Günsel attached on art, artists and his country.

Expressing that they were proud of the value attached on the promotion of our country, Minister Oğuz stated that the importance attached on art would contribute greatly to the promotion of our country as art knows no boundary. Minister Oğuz ended his remarks by extending his appreciations to everyone who served in a field requiring labor and respect.

Following the speeches, Dursun Oğuz, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources presented certificate of appreciation to the artists who contributed to the event and then the exhibition was opened by cutting the ribbon

The Painting and Printmaking Artists' Exhibition, which features pieces of artworks created by 7 academicians from Akdeniz University and 9 Eylül University by using printmaking, metal engraving, serigraphy and linoleum high printing techniques, can be visited at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Medicine between 08:00-16:00 hours  on weekdays until June 30, 2019.
