Other than the COVID-19 Infections, Near East University Hospital Has Started to Offer Free Emergency Health Services

At the helm of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, a decision has been made to provide emergency health services, free of charge, for people who need immediate medical attention due to cases other than the COVID-19 pandemic since the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital main building has been issued as the hospital to provide care for COVID-19 patients. Additionally, cancer and diabetes patients, and pregnant women will continue to be offered free medical and routine examinations.

It was announced that according to the decision made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near east University, Near East University Hospital will be offering free-of-charge emergency services to people who need immediate medical attention in order to eliminate the public suffering due to the covid-19 pandemic, and in order to respond to serious health problems that may occur, and thus overcome these difficult days through being supportive.

According to the statement made by Chief Physician of the Near East University Hospital regarding the decision made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen said: “We have all kinds of preparations to meet the health needs of our people. We will meet the emergency needs of our people until the coronavirus epidemic ends and the state hospital begins to provide its routine services. We do not want anyone to worry about this also during this difficult period.”

In addition to the above, Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen expressed that his strong belief that as a result of the great efforts and devoted efforts of doctors and all healthcare professionals, the police and other state institution personnel, greater suffering will be prevented all together. Furthermore, while expressing his gratitude to everyone who is taking part in this critical process, he emphasized that all difficulties can be overcome in unity and solidarity.


Routine Examinations and medical investigations for Cancer and Diabetes Patients and expectant mothers are continuing free of charge

Again, due to a decision made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees the prior week oncology and diabetes patients, who are among the patient groups who need regular control and examinations, to be continued without interruption under safe and hygienic conditions, as well as expectant mothers at the Near East University Hospital and Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, all free of charge. Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen added that they are ready to do their part for public health until the current process is completed.

The decisions taken by the Board of Trustees of the Near East University last week were expressed to the press release as follows:
As an institution that always cares and cares for cancer patients whose immune system is weaker than other patient groups, we think that the medical controls of oncology patients should be maintained under the conditions offered by our university hospitals. Therefore, examination and laboratory examinations of all oncology patients will be provided free of charge in our hospitals.

It is a fact that diabetes patients should be more careful with Covid-19 than other patient groups. Medical examinations will be provided to these patient group, which requires special attention and care, through the suitable conditions offered by our university hospitals. During these stressful days of covid-19n outbreak, mothers who are expecting a baby have the opportunity to continue their routine examinations without any interruptions. For this reason and with the importance we attach to baby health, mothers who are expecting a baby are also included in the group to be provided free service.

Chief Physician of the Near East University Hospital Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen strongly emphasised that in accordance with the measures taken by the Ministry of Health, patients with fever and cough must apply to the “Fever and Cough” outpatient clinic established in Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Outpatient Diagnosis Centre.
Moreover, he drew attention to the great sensitivity to this issue and that patients at risk of carrying the virus should NOT risk patients who will apply to the hospital due to other health problems. Furthermore, he reminded everyone that that the policlinic in question was reported to serve every day of the week.
