On the second day of the 2022-2023 fall semester graduation ceremonies at Near East University, 330 students had the joy of graduation

Near East University 2022-2023 fall semester graduation ceremony continued with its second day. On the first day of the graduation ceremonies, 350 students who graduated from the Faculties of Nursing, Pharmacy, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Tourism, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Sports Sciences and Health Sciences and Health Services Vocational School celebrated their graduation. On the second day of the ceremony, 329 students who graduated from the faculties of Architecture, Atatürk Education, Agriculture, Engineering, Communication, Law, Fine Arts and Design and Science and Literature presented their diplomas at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center.

Thus, 680 students have had the enthusiasm of graduating from Near East University in the fall term of 2022-2023.

On the second and last day of the graduation ceremonies, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Director of the Graduate Education Institute Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Gamze Mocan, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Bülent Bilgehan, Faculty of Communication Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Zeynep Onur, Near East University Atatürk Education Faculty Acting Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yağmur Çerkez, Dean of Near East University Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Özge Özden, Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul, Faculty of Law Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perçem Arman and many academics attended the ceremony. Graduate students and their families also participated in the ceremony.

The opening speeches of the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, were delivered by Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Dean of Near East University Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Özge Özden and Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul. Melike Yıldırım, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture, spoke on behalf of Turkish graduates, while Gabriellah Tatenda Machumi, a graduate of the Psychology Department, and Ikrame Belcadi, a graduate of Biomedical Engineering, spoke on behalf of international students.


Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ: “Take care of each other wherever you go and do not forget that you have a big family here in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”
Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, in his speech at the ceremony, said, “You are justifiably proud of successfully completing one of the most important periods of your life. I share your happiness wholeheartedly, I am proud of all of you”.

Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “I am sure that this multicultural atmosphere you live in and the friendships you have established enrich you as much as the academic education you receive. Take care of each other wherever you go and do not forget that you have a big family here in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “Life and the world will always advance one step ahead of you. No matter what field or profession you are in, try to keep yourself up to date. Build a world where you will be truly happy and proud of yourself by breaking the stereotypes of yourself and others,” and Rector Şalıdağ advised the graduates that they should never give up.


Prof. Dr. Özge Özden: “You are at the beginning of a new, perhaps more exciting and unpredictable journey that will take you to the next step.”
Near East University Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof. Dr. Özge Özden started her speech by saying “I am very honored to be here to celebrate the achievements of our students” to families, and to the graduates, “You have successfully completed a long, perhaps tiring and not always enjoyable, but certainly fruitful and rewarding journey. Congratulations to you all!”

Reminding that graduation is not the end, Prof. Dr. Özden “You are at the beginning of a new, perhaps more exciting and unpredictable journey that will take you to the next step.”


Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul: “Make a difference in this world by using the power of your inner knowledge and improving yourself all the time.”
Near East University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Efdal Özkul stated that Near East University is a very comprehensive, young and dynamic education center and said, “The Near East University, which was founded in 1988, has always kept education, art and science intertwined. Today, you, our esteemed graduates, are leaving here with an extremely strong infrastructure and accurate knowledge.”

Addressing the graduate students, Prof. Dr. Özkul said, “Seek your rights at all times and under all circumstances. Know and remember the value of the power within yourself. Never give up, never stray from the right path. Make a difference in this world by using the power of your inner knowledge and improving yourself all the time. We trust you all.”


Gabriellah Tatenda Machumi: “We gained not only a diploma at Near East University, but also eternal friendships, a family and long-lasting memories.”
Speaking on behalf of international students at the ceremony, Gabriellah Tatenda Machumi, a Psychology graduate, said, “The combination of good and bad times, shared laughter and late study sessions are some of the elements that have made our experience at Near East University unique.”

Gabriellah Tatenda Machumi said, “We gained not only a diploma at the Near East University, but also eternal friendships, a family, and long-lasting memories.” Machumi thanked the Near East University for turning them into knowledgeable, competent and equipped individuals in many fields, and said to his graduate friends at the end of his speech, “Do not go back to your homes and keep your diplomas on dusty shelves. Use the equipment you have acquired here to be useful individuals for your own communities.”


Ikrame Belcadi: “Here, we have established many good friendships from different faiths, different nationalities, and different countries.”
Near East University Engineering Faculty Biomedical Engineering graduate Ikrame Belcadi congratulated her friends by saying that they are proud of graduating after a four-year magical journey they have spent at Near East University. Belcadi said that it was a great honor to speak on behalf of his graduate friends and added; “We have established many good friendships from different faiths, different nationalities and different countries” and stated that the education process they completed at the Near East University gave them the chance to transform into a new person.

Ikrame Belcadi, who thanked all his teachers one by one for their support and patience, also expressed his gratitude to their families who were always with them on this long journey.


Melike Yıldırım: “I would like to thank all my teachers for their efforts, who made me see architecture not as a business but as an art, and who always guided us with their vast experience.”
Melike Yıldırım, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of the Near East University, started her speech by sharing her joy by saying, “Today, I am coming before you as an architect who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Near East University by completing this challenging and equally beautiful adventure that I started 3.5 years ago.”

“I would like to thank all my teachers for their efforts, who made me see architecture not as a business but as an art and always guided us with their vast experience. I promise that I will use and develop even the smallest knowledge I have learned from you as much as I can,” Melike Yıldırım also said, “I would like to thank my family and friends once again for their support throughout this difficult process. I hope everything will be fine.”
