The Near East University Swimming Team dominated the TRNC 13+ Age Short Course Interclub Swimming Championship, winning a total of 70 medals: 51 gold, 14 silver, and 5 bronze. The team topped the medal standings, winning the championship in the junior boys’ category, and the young athletes’ performances, exceeding the Turkish Swimming Federation’s qualifying standards, gave hope for the future.

The Near East University Swimming Team completed the 13+ Age Short Course Interclub Swimming Championship, organized by the TRNC Aquatic Sports Federation, with significant achievements in both team and individual categories. The team, which won the most gold medals, dominated the championship, winning the junior boys’ category and finishing second in the junior girls’ category.

The young athletes finished the championship with a total of 70 medals: 51 gold, 14 silver, and 5 bronze. With 51 gold medals, they topped the medal standings as the club with the most gold medals in the organization. The men’s team won 29 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals, while the women’s team won 22 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals. The results achieved at the championship once again demonstrated the team’s steady rise in swimming, and the athletes’ performance, surpassing the Turkish Swimming Federation’s qualifying standards, was a significant gain for future national and international competitions.

The Near East University Swimming Team athletes, who reaped the rewards of their disciplined training at the Near East University Olympic Swimming Pool, attracted attention not only with their team success but also with their individual performances. The results achieved throughout the championship once again highlighted the young swimmers’ development at the national level.

In addition to the team championship, the athletes, who also stood out with their individual performances, drew attention with their promising achievements. Akman Tüzünkan won in the 15-year-old category in the 50-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle; Barkan Cem Aykut qualified in the 50 and 100-meter breaststroke in the 16-17-18 age category, while Erten Can Kasımoğlu qualified in the 50-meter breaststroke in the 14-year-old category.

Boran Bora also stood out by surpassing the Turkish Swimming Federation (TYF) qualifying standards in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, and 50-meter butterfly in the 16-17-18 age category. Mavi Blako also surpassed the TYF qualifying standard in the 50-meter backstroke in the 13-year-old category, but due to her foreign nationality and the regulations of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), her time was not officially recognized as a record.

Their achievement of finishing the championship with 51 gold medals and surpassing the Turkish Swimming Federation qualifying standards is a clear indication that we are training with the right system.” Cankurt added, “I congratulate all our athletes who made us proud with their outstanding performance in team and individual categories, and I believe their success will continue to grow.”
