Northern Cyprus Medical Students Association represented the TRNC at the IFMSA European Regional Meeting held in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the participation of 37 countries.

Northern Cyprus Medical Students’ Union (MSANC) represented the TRNC at the European Regional Meeting organized by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, which brought together medical students from 37 countries of the world in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

MSANC Vice President for Foreign Relations Aysu Özbek and General Secretary Ataberk Erginol, who attended the meeting held in Bosnia and Herzegovina on behalf of the Northern Cyprus Medical Students Association, attended the trainings of SCORE (Research Exchange), SCOPH (Public Health), SCOPE (Internship Exchange) and chairmanship sessions. Near East University Faculty of Medicine students Aysu Özbek and Ataberk Erginol, who also took the floor in the plenary sessions, shared their activities and projects carried out in Northern Cyprus with medical faculty students around the world. They also had the opportunity to introduce the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Near East University Hospital at the internship exchange fair.

Saying that they took important steps with the trainings they attended, bilateral meetings and the connections they established in the internship exchange fair in Bosnia and Herzegovina, MSANC Vice President for Foreign Relations Aysu Özbek said that they are proud to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the event that brought together medical students from 37 countries. Özbek emphasized that, in line with their experience, they will continue to plan new studies for medical students on the island and strengthen their bond with the world.

MSANC General Secretary Ataberk Erginol stated that the IFMSA European Regional Meeting is a great opportunity to introduce MSANC and the TRNC to European countries and said, “We will do our best to carry MSANC further in line with the information we learned at Euregme.” Erginol said, “We invited delegates from medical student unions of different countries that we met at the event to our country within the scope of MSANC exchange programs.”

Sara Darweesh, President of the Northern Cyprus Medical Students’ Union (MSANC), emphasized the importance of participating in the decision processes by representing the medical students studying in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the meeting of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations. Stating that the members of the union also gained significant experience in international meetings, Darweesh said, “I would like to thank Near East University Dean of Students Prof. Dudu Özkum Yavuz and our advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Çerkez Ergören for their support.”

Emphasizing that the Northern Cyprus Medical Students’ Union makes very important contributions to the meeting of medical students in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Near East University Dean of Students Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz said, “We are very happy that MSANC Vice President for Foreign Relations Aysu Özbek and General Secretary Ataberk Erginol, who are also Near East University Faculty of Medicine students, successfully represented our country at the meeting held in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the participation of 37 countries.”

Stating that the Near East University Faculty of Medicine trains the doctors of the future with qualified medical education, Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz said, “As the Dean of Students, we will continue to stand by our students who represent our university and our country in many international organizations.”
